It's Quick Tip Tuesday!

Let's talk vitals 🩺

The next time your vet 🥼 is giving your horse a check up, have them show you how to check your horses vitals. This is critical information in an emergency, and can help you determine if there is in fact an emergency. 🚑

Knowing what your horse's baseline TPR (temperature, pulse rate, and respiration rate) is, and checking it weekly, can be an early warning to an emergency.

There are other things that you can examine to determine your horse's state of health. Checking for capillary refill, hydration levels, and the size, shape and consistency of their manure can tell a veterinarian so much about the horse's health.

So ask for instruction on what information to collect, and how to collect it!

It's Quick Tip Tuesday!

What are your plans for your horse on 4th of July?

Unfortunately for horses, our celebrations often include fireworks and plenty of loud and sudden noises. I say be practical and realistic. No matter how bitter and angry you get, it isn't going to stop the celebrations. Best to have a plan to keep your horse safe.

1. Check with your neighbors and local community plans for plans for fireworks.

2. Check with your fellow boarders and see what their plans are. No point in leaving your horse out in the field if all of his friends will be in the barn, or in when all of his friends are out.

3. If your horse is reactive to sudden loud bangs, maybe you can talk to your vet about possibly giving you horse a little something to take the edge off.

Whatever you decide is best for your horse in your current situation, make sure that you have a plan in place so that you can minimize the stress levels for you and your horse.

That's a wrap! 🎬

Most of you already know, but FPF will no longer be offering boarding services and have moved our lesson horses on to their next jobs. This was a very personal and difficult decision to make, but I am confident it is what is right for me and my family.

Now on to the next chapter!📖

I will still offer coaching and instruction, but as a freelance. In other words, you need to have your own horse and facility.

Between riding, coaching, and volunteering, I hope to see you all at shows throughout the year! 💜
