First time Shruikan came to us for a bath and blow out he was absolutely terrified. We had to send him home wet because he tried to bounce off the walls.

This is the difference a veterinary prescribed medication can make for a cat and it’s grooming experience.

I’m sure many of you have heard about the mystery respiratory illness cases spreading. As far as we are aware there have not been cases in Kentucky, but we are taking cleaning and screening precautions.

Please, if your pet has any respiratory symptoms, has traveled to a state with cases of this illness, or seems unwell, consult with your veterinarian before taking them to public places.

Lost baby found in the UK-Turfland parking lot. Got a nice snack from the UK x-ray technician. Animal Control picked him up this morning, if you’re missing this baby or know his family he’s safe now.

I was trying to film content for videos, this is what I captured instead

Happy birthday Cooper, we are so absolutely proud you! He has come such a long way with his fear aggression for grooming. He started seeing Janel in 2019, after being kicked out by multiple groomers and even having to be fully sedated for grooming. With diligent brushing from his mom and compassion from his groomer, he can now be groomed without sedation only CBD calming treats. His newest accomplishment is being able to brush and trim his hair and nails without a muzzle, e collar, or hammock. Another huge trigger for Cooper is actually putting on the protective equipment such as an airmuzzle or e collar, he would go into full fight or flight mode, but since he is restrained his only option was to fight. Rebecca noticed Cooper was being a bit defensive and decided to move forward without protective equipment. Here Rebecca is paying attention to his body language and listening to when to move forward with the grooming and when to stop. She was able to do his full bath and tidy without any bites or extreme stress from Cooper!

Dearest clients and friends: It is with big puppy dog tears that I must announce my time as Earth Dog Spa & Apawthecary is coming to an end. You all have been so amazing for the past 6 years, so fear not! A new face will be coming in (and some old faces will still be around) to jump start a new grooming salon venture! Not much will change, you will still receive the same exceptional care and high quality grooming as you’ve always known. Same phone number, same location but with even more availability (yay no more waiting to book!) and extended hours! As sad as this time may be, I have to look back and smile when thinking of you all. YOU helped Earth Dog- *Raise thousands of dollars over the years for local animal rescues *Donate hundreds of bags of dog & cat food to help rural shelters keep the animals in their care fed every year *Supported so many local small businesses we were fortunate enough to partner with *Raise awareness about critical pet related issues such as Breed Specific Legislation, Positive Reinforcement Training, The Yellow Dog Project, and of course, Making the switch to a more natural way to care for our pets I also want to give a HUGE thank you to the local businesses that not only embraced Earth Dog in the beginning, but helped us grow, trusting us with caring for your clients and your own pups. We would never have made it without your continued support & friendship. I can’t express enough how much of an honor it has been getting to know each of you, and for your trust in allowing me to care for your babies, some from puppies until their last groom. I will truly miss every single one of you. THANK YOU!! 💔 Please be patient with our current staff as they navigate this transition to become, The Rainbow Pet Salon! 💜 Janel
