Kootenai Pets for Life is hiring! We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Shelter Attendant to join our team. Below is a list of the duties. Please read it carefully. Each item is critical to the welfare of our animals.

Description :

As an Animal Shelter Attendant, you will play a vital role in the care and welfare of the animals at our shelter.

Your responsibilities will include providing food and water, cleaning living spaces, and assisting with medical treatments as directed by our veterinarian and shelter manager.

The ideal candidate for this position is passionate about animal welfare and has a strong work ethic. You must have excellent attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast- paced environment. This is a physically demanding job that requires lifting and carrying heavy objects, as well as being comfortable working with animals of all sizes and temperaments.

Responsibilities:
Provide food, water, and clean living spaces for animals in our shelter. Assist with medical treatments, such as administering medication and cleaning wounds, under the guidance of our veterinarian and shelter manager. Handle and restrain animals in a safe and gentle manner. Clean and sanitize animal enclosures, including litter boxes, cages, and runs. Assure the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the shelter facility. Observe animals for signs of illness or distress and report any concerns to the shelter manager.

Other duties include:
Assist with the adoption process, including meeting with potential adopters and completing necessary paperwork.

Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience working with animals, preferably in a shelter or veterinary setting.

Strong knowledge of animal care and welfare.

Ability to handle animals of all sizes and temperaments with confidence and ease.

Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.

Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform repetitive tasks.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, volunteers, and potential adopters.

Hi! I'm Rylee and am about 5 months old! I'm a shy girl but if you pet me I realize I love petting WAY more than hiding and will come out to be loved. I can usually be found cuddle with one of the the other kittens on top of the kitten tower in the kitten room.

I'm Rufus. And, sigh, yes I know. I ALWAYS look like I'm apologizing. I can't help it. I'm a French Bulldog/Great Pyrenees mix. I'm about 10 months old and all boy. I'm learning to walk on a leash and do pretty darn good at play dates with my girlfriend (she's outside the shelter and I get to go see her. Am I lucky or WHAT!). I'm a great dog. I just need a great human to be complete. I mean, really, think about waking up to me gazing at you like this every morning...

Hey there! I'm Mouse. And yes, I'm this cool! AND full of fun. We've been hanging out in the kitten room just having a blast but we're ready to broaden our horizons; try new things, new beds to sleep on, new cubbies to explore and new humans to play with. I'm only about 4 months old. My mother is Tigress. You remember her? Yeah, most people do. I'm more mellow and much gentler but she is where I get my 'look' from.

If you don’t already know, Kootenai Pets for Life is a volunteer established 501c3 - nonprofit. Despite the ups and downs of animal welfare, and the financial hardships of being dependent on donors, donations, and adoptions, this community can’t be stopped.

When you look around and give gratitude this holiday season don’t forget to include the folks diligently working behind the scenes to take care of your community. As the larger Flathead Community faces adversity it is a powerful reminder of what we are all capable of. Among us are leaders, helpers, and caretakers, and WE are your neighbors, your volunteers, and your teammates.

So thank you to all of the folks that restored power, removed debris, housed families, and provided water. Thank you to anyone who stepped up and helped a neighbor stack sandbags and looked out for one another. After all that’s why we choose this place to call home, because we know and can rely on one another.

If you want to continue the giving spirit into the New Year, come join our team at KPFL, and help us serve the greater Libby area. Without you none of the work we do is possible. Happy Holidays.

I was brought in with my mama and siblings we didn't know what lots of love is like. Now I do and I'm thinking humans are pretty neat! I've come out of my shell and am ready to adopt a human as soon as I find one! An its okay. I not really a panther. I just pretending...Merry Christmas!

I'm Onyx. I am the sweetest little girl you will ever meet. I'm seven years old now but I don't look a day over two! As you can see, I'm very petite. I'm a bit shy but I love to play and once I get to know a human, I love to be loved by them. Unfortunately, because I'm shy no one gets to see me. The humans here know me well and some I will come running to because they are the BEST! I'm asking Santa for my very own human who will wait while I overcome my shyness. Then we'll play together and sleep together and, and it will be so FUN!

I'm the goodest boy you're ever going to meet! I'm Jaxon. I'm a eight-years-old and love to be loved. I been LOTS of places this year and made LOTS of new human friends so I just know my forever human is about to hear about me and come get me! I love my wading pool but this winter we can play in the snow. I would look SO good in front of your Christmas tree, don't you think? Um, no cats please.

Two Female kittens need rehoming. They were born on July 26th and are litter box trained. Both kittens are extremely loving and enjoy cuddling up on your chest- that is when they're not jumping off the walls. The grey one with the white between the eyes, is Attitude. She is stubborn and strong willed. The more stripped kitten is named Hide n Seek, she loves to make you seek.
