***Warning Graphic Video***
Although this video is extremely hard to watch, it proves the fact that rabies is still in fact a very real problem and it is out there, large animals often get looked over.

Continuation post about prolapses. Below is a picture of vaginal/cervical prolapse. These are a don’t call your vet on a Sunday kind of call. These can be addressed on Monday. These typically occur before calving and must be fixed before the cow can calve. These also tend to be genetic and are often recurring. I always recommend selling these gals because she will likely do this again next year. I refer to these as job security.

Since we are in the depths of calving season let’s talk prolapses in cattle. There are two types of prolapses that occur in cattle. There is a vaginal and a uterine prolapse. It is important to know the difference because one is an emergency and one needs to be dealt with but is not as emergent. Below is a picture of a uterine prolapse. These are a need to be dealt with now. This prolapse happens right after calving. It is when the entire uterus comes out. They are an emergency because the uterine artery can rupture and the cow can bleed out. We recommend handling these cattle in a quiet and calm fashion and recommend not hauling them. A vaginal prolapse is when the vaginal/cervical tissue protrudes from the v***a of the cow. This prolapse typically happens before calving. It needs to be dealt with but doesn’t have to be a right now kind of thing.

National Agriculture Day is celebrated on today March 18, during Agriculture Week. Everything we eat, use, or wear every day is provided by agriculture. Most people don’t understand the contribution of agriculture to our lives. So today we are celebrating agriculture and thanking all the people who work hard to feed the world, look after crops and livestock, and contribute to agricultural production!

Client Reshare:
Meet “Monty”, lovingly nicknamed “little man”. He is looking for a warm, quiet, indoor home. He had a rough start to life as a stray, and even though his first year was tough, he is super loving and just wants to be pet anytime there is an extra hand available for him. He is neutered and up-to-date on his shots and rabies. The only thing he needs now is a loving home where he can stay safe indoors and be the “cat of the house”. Please contact 606-787-0512 for additional info!

Introductions Week 9:

Office Manager, Ashley Leek. Ashley has been working for us a little over a year. She takes care of the business aspects of the clinic. From keeping paperwork moving and the lights on. She is always willing to help out our techs and dive in to help our clients with whatever they need. When she is not in the clinic she enjoys riding horses and wrangling her husband and kids. Going camping and organizing rodeos for the community fills her pastime. We are grateful to have her here.
