One of the fawns spotted outside our fence with her buddy. She shows up and is spotted probably once a month now. We know who she is because of the eartag she tore off. She was orphaned and brought to us for rehab. We are North Carolina wildlife licensed for fawns. https://www.libertyacres.org

Juneau is not responding to treatment and we've had to make the tough decision to put her to sleep this morning. Thanks everyone for your prayers and condolences. 😔 RIP sweet Juneau.

Prayers for Juneau tonight, she's at the vet clinic. Not sure what's going on but should know more tomorrow.

A true haven for animals and people, Liberty Acres Farm is the unique vision of North Carolinian Alison Peeler and her family. With a focus on promoting Exotic & Domestic animals through Conservation, Education, & Research into the care of each species, the farm is some 100+ acres located in Liberty, NC. The landscape of the rolling acres is dotted with Rheas, Emus, Ostriches, Blackbelly Sheep, Kangaroos, Wallabies, Zebras, Llamas, Camels and Rescue Horses.

There are exhibits housing rare and exotic birds from Peacocks and Pheasants, to Parrots and Poultry. Lemurs, Arctic, Fennec & Bat-eared foxes, African Porcupines, Kinkajous, Capybara, and something new around every turn you make along the pathways; let’s not forget the waterfowl gracing the pond. Species from all over the world to see as you stroll about the property. Reptile and Bird learning centers, where there are arts & crafts, with educational materials for all ages, Nature Walks with Scavenger Hunts, and hands on learning about the animals during your visit. With an eye to preserving these amazing and unique animals, Alison’s vision lies in sharing their history & stories through hands-on learning about the care and maintenance of these wonderful animals. Promoting research into the enrichment and preservation of each species and each individual animal is a high priority. The focus is on learning opportunities for children ages 8+ from local schools, groups like Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, the FFA, and 4H; with special sessions for children under age 6. There are volunteer opportunities & intern experience credits for college students.

Most of all, it is Alison’s love of all the animals, and the opportunity to share the wonder of each individual animal, each special species, and their unique requirements, with as many others as possible to promote new knowledge and the drive to protect these beauties in the next generation of caretakers.
