Brookie went on a fun adventure with a volunteer today. She got to go watch a soccer game at our local school. She had so much fun. She loves kids and would love a fun family with kids to Adopt her. Last weekend she went to Kehlia Coffee with another volunteer. She loves to go places and have fun. 💜🐶💜

Kevin went on his field trip to hike around beautiful Whitewater State Park today. He had a blast. He enjoyed splashing around in the lake. He stopped at 3 Rivers Bank on way back to shelter. They gave him a hot dog and petted him. He's such a good gentle boy. 💙🐶💙

Good news and bad news about Huggy Bear our Bluetick Coonhound. He is heartworm positive but he tested very well with cats. He walked past several cats very calmly. When some of the big cats threatened him he backed off and decided to respect their space. He met Dave the rooster and the pigs at the Sanctuary too and was very kind and gentle. He is scheduled for heartworm treatment on September 3rd and needs to find a foster home or forever home by then. He is 2 years old and loves all people and is great with other dogs. It was Maria's turn for her field trip today. She hiked about 2 miles with her friend on the bridle trail at Whitewater State Park. She did not see any horses but she saw a flock of wild turkeys she thought were neat. She enjoyed splashing around in the river. She loves her car ride too. Maria is such a good loyal girl. 💚🌳🐶💚🌳

Little puppy Ajita is getting big. She is around 20 lbs and is almost 4 months old. She is learning to play well with the big dogs Mooshu, Kevin, and Maria. Huggy Bear just had the best time hiking and playing at Whitewater State Park with his friend. We found out he does not hunt for raccoons or squirrels, he hunts for people to love him and cuddle him. Huggy Bear got way more excited about seeing people than he did about tracking animals. He loves all people and kids and is so gentle and friendly. He is safe at vet for neuter and vaccines so he can get Adopted. Everyone pray he is heartworm negative. 💙💙🌳🐶🌳💚💙💚

Dog and cat overpopulation is not a myth. All shelters in Indiana are full right now. We are getting more calls from people wanting to surrender pets than we are getting for adoption. There are way too many dogs and not enough responsible homes who want to keep their pets their entire lives. We know pet food and everything is expensive right now but please do your part by spaying and neutering all your pets and supporting your local shelters by foster care and adoption. Please share.

New stray. Male blue tick coonhound. Not microchipped. Found on Turkey Creek road off of 44 west. He is super friendly. He ate all his food and went for a walk and drank plenty of cold water then he climbed on dog house and starting trying to figure out how to get out. He's a smart one. Look how good our puppy Ajita is doing!! She has a great appetite and is putting on weight rapidly. She went for a walk with Brookie our biggest dog a few days ago. Brookie's confidence and friendly happy demeanor made her feel brave. She even sat when Brookie sat. What a good girl. She likes kids and would do fine with nice kitties and gentle dogs. Ajita gets scared easily and needs more socialization and lots of cuddles. She would love to find a foster home soon. She will need to come back for spay and more vaccines on September 3rd. Awesome news!!!! A few weeks ago some awesome local adoptors brought their Mom out to pick out a dog!!! Dixie is happy to report she has made herself quite at home. This gentle girl loves her new Mom alot!!! Thanks everyone!!

Meet Sparky. He is a 1 year old shepherd mix with the cutest ears!!! He is very smart and learned the hand signal for sit in two days and walks on leash well. He needs a little more socialization with people and other dogs. Once he decides he likes you you will get lots of kisses. Sparky is neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm negative.
It would do him good to meet more kind volunteers and potential adoptors.

New puppy Ajita had a rough start in life but things are looking up for her. She was found on Bossert road on Friday. The dog warden dropped her off on Saturday while volunteers were there. She did not want to eat or drink and was not a usual playful puppy. We called Grove vet and they told us to bring her right away. Bailey took her there. Parvo test was negative but she needed meds for vomiting
On Sunday they got her feeling better. On Monday morning she was eating and drinking and feeling better. They gave her some wormer, meds, and her 1st puppy vaccine. Then Denise went and picked her up. Ajita means invincible, unconquerable. She is strong but puppies like her wish not to be abandoned and get proper care so they do not suffer. Spay and neuter your dogs so puppies like her are not born homeless
If anyone wants to help pay her $127 vet bill at Grove vet call 765-458-6221. Thank you to Dr Johnston and his kind staff for saving her.

Stray dog needs to find his family. He is out wandering on N. Philomath and he won't let anyone approach him. He is growling at a family out there. One of our volunteers went out and there was unable to spot him. He is a large dog who appears to be a yellow mastiff mix. If this is your dog please get him off the road. Very cute playful boxer mix Robbie is safe at vet for neuter, vaccines, and heartworm test. He is 52 lbs. This short stocky boy is very bouncy and friendly. He loves car rides and he did great greeting everyone at vet's office. They all thought he was cute. Robbie likes to cuddle and has no idea what personal space is. He seems to like female dogs so far and likes kids. We will cat test him on Wednesday. ❤️🐶💙

Awesome news!!! Chip is Adopted!!!! He has a happy fun life with his new Mom and lots of space to play fetch!!! We are so happy for him. 💙🐶💙

Update!! We got him!!!!! He's safe and warm and fed inside. Yay!!!!!!!! ⭐🥰🐶😍⭐ The male Rottweiler is still in same spot he was left. Some people are feeding him which is good but please don't chase him. It will just make him more scared. He's on Mitchell road west in Union county. Please share far and wide, even over to Indianapolis and Ohio lost pet groups. Just in case he was picked up and dumped here from another area.
