Today we welcomed Beverly to our farm! Beverly is a Nigerian Dwarf who had no friends of her own species so her owner gave her to us to live with our herd of goats! She seems to be adjusting very well and everyone is being nice!

The Anatolians puppies are growing well! From 2 weeks old, they have been raised alongside goats in the barn and will also be exposed to sheep as they grow. Now everyone is moved to the pasture with mom so she can teach them proper guardian skills.
They will continue to learn from her until their new humans take over training at about 12 weeks!
These pups are working dogs from working lines. Parents and grandparents are working LGDs.

Silkies eggs are hatching! I forgot to unplug the egg turner on day 18 so I hope they will hatch ok!
We have 6 pipped so far out of 21!

Vetted the Katahdins too(except the ones at our friends' house...we will do their vetting when they get home next month). I'm so pleased at how healthy these girls look! The've had zero grain or hay this summer and they maintained great condition on pasture alone! Their coats also have grown back in beautifully!

Loving this milk stand. Not only is is it great for milking but when we are giving their biannual copper boluses, trimming hooves, and deworming, it keeps them still and both us and them safe. We got their vetting done really quickly this morning!

Finally we moved part of our herd into the new pasture! They live it and the goats love the brush in the treeline!

Lots of work to clear this latest pasture but its finally finished! It's the largest one yet!
Mr.Leeman initially cleared the field last year. Mike finished putting in the posts and stringing the last wire this week. We won't move the sheep back there until we get back but it's ready and waiting for them!

We've been on vacation! Our milking goats were also on vacation being milked for us by an Amish farmer!
We have a wonderful friend who takes care of the rest of our animals while we are away! We got home at 5 am and it's back to our normal schedule! We sold our last puppy and he went to his new home today. We picked up Josie's new Alpine doeling which she has named Daisy. She was a trade for Elias our little bottle ram that was from Emma!
We are pleased to welcome her to the farm!

Goat milk mozzarella cheese is on the books! We also made goat milk ricotta and turned it into lasagna with homemade noodles and fresh herbs from the garden!

Highlights of our homestead! We do a lot from handcrafted soap, to dairy products from our goats to sourdough baking to gardening!

Such a satisfying sound!

Bad storm rolling in! Got afternoon milking and chores done just in time!

Very excited! Our lavender orpingtons are hatching!

They love when we get home and let them out to fly! Our house is a bit crazy and we live in a zoo: I've got dogs and cats running around and birds flying everywhere and lambs in the house at times, puppies being birthed in our kitchen and baby ducks and chicks hatching and brooding in the living room but it definitely makes things fun and interesting!
