Will my child ride during a horsepowered reading lesson?
In this program, no. All lessons are done from the ground (unmounted). These lessons focus on horsemanship as well as reading and math skills. Being unmounted allows students to learn and listen to how horses communicate and how to communicate their own awareness back to the horse. They learn how to connect and build trust with their equine partner. There’s a lot to be learned from the ground!

Why horses?
Horses are natural teachers! They have distinct personalities and social roles within a herd allowing students to form connections with them.
Horses are also extremely sensitive to body language, their environment and cues. They can give us very good insight into what the students are experiencing emotionally during the session
Horses also allow for movement in learning !

What is Horsepowered Reading?
“Horsepowered Reading is an experiential learning program that focuses on the unique learning process of each individual. Students are allowed to make discoveries and experiment with knowledge first hand in a relaxing and non judgmental environment “

These activities are done from the ground (unmounted). Students interact with their chosen horse while utilizing toys and props to identify obstacles and learn critical reading skills.

Rates are as follows :
Private 1hr lesson -$50
Group lesson (2-6 participants) $25 per child for 90 minutes
Field trips also available for larger groups up to 20 participants

We are excited to announce a new facet to Inghram Training Stables. Beginning February 4, Tessa Bunn will be adding Horsepowered Reading and math sessions! If your child struggles with reading and comprehension, if adhd, anxiety or other mental health concerns are getting in the way of learning, Horsepowered Reading can break through these challenges giving students a chance to learn and reinforce reading and math skills.
