Did you know, every time you use a credit/debit card, the merchant pays processing fees to your credit card company? Those fees can cost them 2-4% of your total purchase! In an effort to contain costs and avoid raise our veterinary service prices, beginning Nov 15th, LVC will start passing those processing fees back to the card user instead of absorbing the cost ourselves. For those using a card, we will add a 3% fee which will be paid directly to the card company at the time of payment. For those choosing to pay by cash or check, you will be unaffected by the change.

Reminder for my horse friends.

As pastures turn green (and white, and then green again) please remember to be vigilant of warning signs of spring laminitis. Monitoring digital pulses is a good way to detect when your horses have had enough. A bounding (throbbing) pulse indicates urgent need to pull the horse off the grass for awhile and fill in with a lower carb roughage source like hay. The carb level in grass increases throughout the day and then slowly decreases through the night, so the safest time for a sensitive horse to be out on pasture is first thing in the morning, then come in before noon.

Calling all horse barns!

CALLING ALL HORSE BARNS.....A message from Diane from Habitat for Cats....... Hi, Wayne County Horse Rescue, I am hoping you can help me/us..... I am the president of a Cat Trap Neuter and Return NonProfit Organization in Rochester NY and we work closely with Lollypop and the Wayne County Humane Society in helping to bring the euthanasia numbers down in the cat world. I was called by them to take a look at and assess a situation in Ontario NY where an elderly couple had sold their home and made an appointment for a 50 cat euthanasia! Lollypop did not feel right about this. The story is lengthy but my small group, Habitat for Cats went in and humanely trapped 70 cats. Both Humane Societies worked with us to alter/vaccinate/deworm all cats so far and now the hard task will be to rehome these cats into safe havens/barns. We are eager to place these kitties in horse barns as horse owners are a real special breed of folk :) Our set up for relocation of the cats is very professional and we bring tons of supplies for the cats. There is NO adoption fee! Horse barns are often looking for barn buddies to keep down the rodents......Please contact Diane directly at Habitat for Cats NY if you can help! And can everyone please share as well? Thank you all! It takes a village to rescue animals! :)
