UPDATE POST!

Just 12 days ago Milo entered the shelter weighing a total of 84.1lbs and was afraid of everyone that came near him.. Now, Milo weighs in at 103lbs and is in love with everyone he meets! Milo had a wonderful vet visit at Cumberland Animal Hospital last week where he received his rabies vaccination and a clean bill of health after testing. Milo is currently estimated to be a 3-4 year old Great Dane/Mastiff mix that is neutered.

This gentle giant has stolen our hearts in the short amount of time he has been with us.. As much as we'd love to have him stay, he is now ready to start looking for his forever home that he deserves. We are unsure of Milo's entire backstory still, but we require a home with no children or teens. This is due to him being easily startled, and also due to his size.. (the average healthy weight for a male Dane/Mastiff mix weighs between 120lbs-180lbs). A low traffic household would suit Milo best while he is still regaining his confidence!

Milo has also been selected as a program recipient in the Take My Lead program! This program provides training, behavioral support, and supplies for a recently adopted dog as they transition into their new adoptive home. This amazing opportunity is possible thanks to Handsome Dan's Rescue for Pit Bull Type Dogs and the wonderful supporters that donate to make this possible!

Milo has not been 'cat tested', and he is completely unfazed by other dogs. Therefor we are able to accommodate meet and greets with other dog friendly dogs. We are currently taking applications in person for Milo at the Lincoln Animal Shelter located at 25 Wellington Rd in Lincoln. Applications may be filled out in person Monday - Friday from 11AM-2PM. If you have any questions about Milo, please reach out at 401-333-0950.

Meet Momma!

Momma is a 7-year-old female Terrier Mix who is a gentle, sweet, and loving girl. Momma was recently brought to the shelter and surrendered by her owner due to a family hardship. Momma is feeling a little lost and confused since coming to the shelter, but she’s slowly adjusting and hoping to find a new home soon. Momma also has a playful side that comes out whenever she sees a tennis ball or a squeaky toy.

Momma is a special dog with a heart of gold who will cherish every moment with you. If you can open your home and your heart to this sweet girl, you’ll be rewarded with unconditional love and devotion.

To schedule a meet and greet, or to hear more about Momma, please call Cumberland Animal Control at 401-333-2745 or Lincoln Animal Shelter at 401-333-0950

Meet Hazel! This sweet girl is estimated to be 2 years old, she is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm/lyme negative, and microchipped. Hazel is house and crate trained as well. We have no history on how she is with cats, and seems to do well with other dogs. We would recommend a home with children 7 years and older, she is still young and can be a bit jumpy. Hazel would thrive with basic obedience training as she is eager to please and attentive. After she calms down from her zoomies in the yard, she morphs into a couch potato inside. If you would like to hear more about Hazel or to schedule a meet and greet, please call us at 401-333-0950

Today, Cumberland Animal Control was notified of a missing dog stranded on an island at Rawson Pond. Animal Control Officers and Cumberland Fire Department were able to safely locate and retrieve Margot and bring her back to land. Margot is now warm, safe, and receiving lots of snuggles and cuddles. This group effort was possible thanks to Cumberland ACO’s, Cumberland Firefighters, Lincoln Animal Control, and a few very helpful neighbors.. We are all extremely grateful she is home safe tonight. ❤️

❗️ANNOUNCEMENT FOR LINCOLN RESIDENTS ❗️
Lincoln Animal Control has been notified of a Grey Fox in the area of Great Rd and Breakneck Hill. This Fox is presumed to be rabid. We have been informed that a resident and dog were attacked and bitten by this fox.
The resident & dog are okay, both were treated immediately after the incident took place. An additional sighting of a fox walking sideways and behaving abnormally near the roadway was reported on Great Rd.

PLEASE BE VIGILANT OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS.
***Young children and pets should be monitored at all times outdoors no matter the time of day.***
***Make sure your pets are up to date on their rabies vaccination to ensure they are protected.***

Additional tips:

• Use motion lights and outdoor lights when possible.

Normal Fox Behavior: Laying down to rest/bask in the sun, running away, drinking water, being out in the daytime (common myth).

Any fox sightings that DO exhibit strange behavior such as; (aggression, not fearful of humans, poor coordination/falling over, going in circles, biting at itself, convulsing), seen in this area should be immediately reported to the following.
