Back Porch Taxidermy

Back Porch Taxidermy Taxidermist in central Missouri specializing in deer, birds, mammals, and reproduction fish. My name is Tammy Cruciotti.

My family and I moved to Lincoln MO from Maine in the spring of 2021. We were looking for a certain way of life and Missouri seemed to check all of our boxes. While in Maine, I apprenticed under a taxidermist with over 40 years experience. He was also the president of the Maine association of Taxidermists. I learned and worked in my mentor’s shop for about 3 years and obtained my taxidermy license

for the state of Maine. I attend seminars and competitions to better my work. I’ve received awards for all my pieces I have submitted to the competitions. Now, I’m opening and running a Taxidermy business of my own here in Lincoln, MO. My goal is to provide quality mounts with quality products. I strive to make my pieces of art as realistic as I am capable. I look forward to meeting you, hearing your hunt story, and creating a long lasting memory with your taxidermy mount.

Pretty excited about the new hardwood supplier I decided to try. The place I used to order from stopped making hardwood products, so I had to explore.

I have many new options of different kinds of hardwoods- cypress, walnut, cedar, pecan etc (not all are pictured) and they seem to be excellent quaility. These are all catered toward euro mounts. These come at an additional cost to the euro mount.

Big day tomorrow! Good luck hunters! Feel free to reach out with any questions. Keep in mind the warm weather we’re having and get that deer to the processor or taxidermist ASAP. My goal is a year turnaround time 🤞

Still offering $40 in house credit for unused capes of mature bucks without damage (ticks, unnecessary cuts)

Refer to my photos/videos on this page for “how to’s” on caping your deer. I don’t need any neck meat for measurements (I get better measurement after the skin is tanned) So take all your neck meat up to the base of the skull.

As always, 10% off veterans, youth, firefighter, and law enforcement.

P.S. I may try to hit the woods myself tomorrow morning, should be out by 8 to take those phone calls. May be the only time a taxidermist gets to hunt during rifle week 😆

Soft tans are done a bit differently than tans for actual mounts. The hide will stiffen up rock solid on specimens tanned for Taxidermy.

Dry/Soft tans stay pliable and soft. Different tanning chemicals and processes must be taken to achieve this desired affect. I had a very lengthy conversation with the owner of the chemical company I buy my tanning solutions from to learn the proper way to professionally tan soft skins in house.

Each step plays a key role in preserving the hide. This cow certainly was a learning experience, but rewarding to see the results in the end. I’ve learned ways to make the process better (and hopefully easier lol) for next time.

More info on caping a deer, more cape is better than not enough!

Some forms require some of the front legs with almost half the back, like a pedestal mount. Make sure it’s all there so you have options in the shop

Good luck kiddos! Love to see you all enjoy the great outdoors, making amazing memories and traditions!

As always, 10% off for youth.

While I try to get everything done in a year… Since the youth season is before the rifle rush, their deer are the first to get mounted from the whitetail push, so they will get their mount back before next hunting season!

To ensure your mount stays nice for a lifetime, I properly tan all my hides to be mounted with a quality tanning agent.

I also grind all the tissue off the skull plates to prevent bugs or smell in the years to come.

Quality and detail is important to me with my buisness and your memories
