PUPPIES! We welcomed a sweet litter of Labrador Retriever puppies (blacks and chocolates) on April 8, 2023. They will be ready for approved homes around June 3. Mom and dad are AKC registered and from hunting lineage - have exceptional temperaments. Hips and elbows certified free of defects and both have impressive pedigrees. Please message us. Limited registration only for these pups - meaning these pups are not for breeding purposes. Pics soon. For now, enjoy this one! Your chocolate will look like this at 3 months.

Kennel Update: Our project has faced many delays, but we are hoping to break ground soon. We are NOT open for boarding at this time. But we would appreciate your business when we do reopen. No ETA. Please keep in touch.

Dear friends, ground has not yet been broken for the new Kennel. So, we do not have an ETA when we might be back in business. We have received many calls over the last week and we really appreciate staying in touch. We can still do obedience training and field dog training. Hope to see you all soon.

Dear friends and customers. Update: We have a new location for the Kennel. It will be near Thunder Valley Casino. However, we are going through the permitting process with Placer County to build. We will keep you posted. We are still able to do limited field dog training and obedience training. Feel free to stay in touch. We will be back!

Dear friends and customers. We would like to inform you that O'Brien's Kennel will be closing its doors on January 5, 2021. West Roseville is ever evolving in terms of development and the Kennel has lost its home. The plan is to relocate, but it may take some time. Please check our website periodically for updates at www.obrienskennel.com. We still offer gun dog and obedience training but not at the Kennel. Keep in touch - we will be back!

We have 9 beautiful Brittany babies. They were born on 6/11/18. Six orange and white - three liver and white. We will post pictures soon. They are just now toddling about and eating a little solid food. Really fat little rolly-poly pups.

We had puppies last night! Ten gorgeous Brittany babies. Mom and pups are doing well -- eight orange and white and two liver and white. We will keep you posted. They won't be ready for new homes for a couple of months. Call 916.991.3007 for more information.

July 4th is upon us and what a day worth celebrating! Americans all over the United States will be enjoying the celebration with backyard barbecues, camping trips, parades, and music. But, lest we forget, the big finale to the day is a night sky filled with shocking flashes of color and big booms that make your heart race.

While we can appreciate this, all that racket can scare a dog half to death! Plan ahead to keep your dog safe. Secure those gate latches, as many dogs that had no escape issues before, will panic, and try to run from the noise.

Shelters always expect a spike of loose dogs on the street during this time. Better yet, do not leave your dog unsupervised at all.

Talk to your veterinarian about ways you can help your dog get through all the noise.

German short-haired pointers are typically a hardy breed and from our experience, they seem to remain sound well into their senior years. Here is Millie - can you believe she is a senior dog? She keeps on rolling. Please give us a call if you want to talk German short-hair!

Meet Gino - one of O'Brien's Kennel's finest! Gino was the last of a litter of Brittany puppies bred by Earl Wood, owner of O'Brien's Kennel. It seemed Gino had been forgotten, until a few years back photographer/hunter and journalist, Harry Morse, was commissioned to take photos of Gino and simply fell in love with him. It was a perfect match and Gino has proven to be an awesome dog in all ways possible - - bold hunter, magnificent temperament and gorgeous. Did I say gorgeous too?
