CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL competitors who played with us at our NADD Summer Fun Qualifier June 7-9th! We have New Titles from the last 2 events! We have NEW REGIONALS INVITES! We had someone break the facility AR record and knock his brother off the board in May! We can't wait to see everyone in July for our Luau Into the Night event - be ready to have some fun with us in July!

We made a post this past Saturday about National Best Friends Day. We have a special pair we weren’t able to share that day. These two truly love each other and are never apart when they’re in group together. It’s a Paws joke that their boyfriend and girlfriend. (Opposite sexes are spayed/neutered to be able to play together. We’re not making that kind of love connection over here 😉). So here’s to Seersha and Channing who are a pair all their own. 🐾❤️

Who’s looking for something fun to do today with this beautiful weather?? Come on over to Deer Springs Winery at 162nd & Adams for Whine & Howl. We’ll be here till 5. Come see us, get some good wine and listen to the band. Our trainer Scott is here with us today so come meet him and talk about any training needs you may have.

It’s National Best Friends Day! Just like people dogs have besties too. ❤️ Paws 4 Fun wanted to share some pics of the dogs that can’t get enough of each other.

Paws 4 Fun has decided to do a weekly activity (kinda like camp but for dogs 😉). This coming week (June 10th - June 16) is Pool Party Week! 🏖️ We will be having a pool group several times each day. This activity will not cost extra if your dog is here for Daycare or Boarding. If you have a small dog we do have a small doggie pool available for that group. If your dog will be with us on these dates and you DO NOT want them to participate in water/pool times please let us know upon check in. We’ll make an announcement each Friday during the summer listing next week’s activity.

🚨🚨This is urgent, please read.

We at Capital Humane Society are in a crisis and we need the community’s help. We do not have a single open dog kennel at either of our shelter locations – we are at 100% capacity. We will not be accepting dog surrenders until further notice unless it is an extreme emergency. A wait list is available.

This is urgent; we refuse to euthanize dogs because we are at full capacity.

We are running an adoption promotion from now through Sunday – all pets available for adoption have a 50% reduced adoption fee. This includes puppies, adult dogs, kittens, adult cats, and critters.

This issue will not be solved by an adoption promotion alone, it is a Band-Aid on a gaping wound. Our shelter reaching maximum capacity will be an on-going problem that will lessen by spaying and neutering the pets in our community. It is up to each pet owner to take responsible steps to ensure we see fewer unwanted pets by spaying and neutering those in their care. Resources we provide are the low cost spay and neuter program, affordable spay and neuter surgeries at our Stransky Veterinary Center, and our partnership with Lincoln Animal Ambassadors for their spay and neuter voucher assistance program. Please contact us at 402-441-4488 for more information regarding any of these services.

Please note, we require viable space to fulfill our contractual obligations with the City of Lincoln and Lancaster County. We must have available kennels for the dogs brought into our care through these avenues.

While we are on a temporary hold to accept dogs, please use the following rehoming platforms as needed: Rehome by Adopt a Pet, Rescue Me!, and Home to Home. Please complete a transfer ownership form once the pet has found a new home. Who’s been waiting for our exciting announcement?!?! Memorial Day holiday treats are here!! We have doggie ice cream available from the 13th to the 31st. Ingredients are bananas, peanut butter, plain Greek yogurt, 1-2 milk bones and red/white/blue sprinkles (in moderation)!!! Small is $4 and Large is $6. When scheduling online you can book the ice cream under daycare/boarding add ons by selecting holiday treat. Or just let the receptionist know up front upon check-in.

First dog to enjoy ice cream is Cain. Cain is available for adoption through Nebraska No Kill Canine Rescue. Cain would need to be the only dog in the home. Super human friendly. Loves to cuddle with a good blanket on those chilly Nebraska nights. One of his favorite activities is sunbathing outside. Cain will be 6 this July. May started out rather busy and time got away from us! April Raffle had 561 entries on the Daycare side and 473 entries on the Boarding side.
