Uplifting Paws is 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that focuses on improving the lives and independence of those with disabilities with service dogs.

We also offer dog training services for the general community, and for future therapy dog teams. Uplifting Paws (UP) is a nonprofit organization based out of Lincoln, NE. Founded in late 2017, UP has two specific purposes: to provide highly trained service dogs for disabled persons who would benefit from a service dog, and to provide training and volunteer opportunities for therapy dogs.

Did you know? All of our service dogs are taught basic tasks to help those with psychiatric disabilities. 🤯 Ace might look like he’s just cuddling in these pictures, he’s actually pushing down on his trainer’s leg to practice light pressure therapy during a real therapy appointment!What a good man! 💜

Tasks like light or deep pressure therapy help someone ground themselves during dissociative episodes, anxiety or panic attacks! For many people, these moments become debilitating. Service dogs like Ace can help someone through these scary times. 🦮

Brrr, it’s cold out there! 🥶 LPS has cancelled classes, so all of our services will be cancelled for Friday, January 12th. Enjoy the snow day! ☃️

We are ecstatic to announce the winner of the name raffle for our newest service dog prospect: Charm! Charm is already an enthusiastic scholar and has been hard at work learning about this big world we live in. We are so excited to have her join us and we look forward to updating you on her many adventures!

Eevee, UP’s nearly 9 month old Service Dog Prospect, learning some real life service dog skills with her handler and trainer, Grayson. This foundational skill of taking a toy and dropping it into a bucket will slowly be generalized into various other skills. Such skills may be taking trash from her handler and throwing it away for them, putting her toys away, or putting clothes into a hamper. Creating complex behaviors is done through building upon an easier foundation to help keep the dog successful and having fun! If your goal is to teach your dog to not jump on guests, avoid pulling on walks, or teach impressive tricks, we would love to help! Stay tuned for our next session of obedience classes, we will be posting our schedule shortly.
