It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of American Federation of Aviculture past president Mary Ellen LePage on February 1, 2025. Mary Ellen’s son Rich was with her in her final moments and helped her with her final goodbyes. She is survived by Rich and her other son Joe and daughter Terry. Mary Ellen was a former fire chief in Casa Loma, CA, near her home in Santa Cruz.

Mary Ellen was always a fierce advocate for aviculture and a long-standing member of AFA. She was a long-time fixture at conventions for AFA, and other organizations, and was never shy to speak her mind, ask her questions or make her position known. She worked with rare species and wild birds and supported conservation efforts all over the world.

Her family asks that no flowers be sent but memorial gifts can be sent in her name to AFA.

Simon hatched april 6 2024. African greys are one of the most sought pet parrots in the world. The african grey has been added to the endangered species list and this species is now protected. Baby Simon is a very special african grey parrot and loves to take over everything. He spends hours in the floor playing with his bird toys and hanging out in his potato chip box hideout. This video shows from the egg hatching and him growing up through15 weeks old. Simon was bred and raised by Royal Bird Company.
