Thank you to the reviewer in the UK whose difference of opinion on Facebook prompted her to review SP with a do not recommend although she has never patronized my business. It has opened up a discussion with my clients and provided an opportunity to introduce and discuss creative grooming with my clients & followers. 🥰

A little fun, interesting & educational piece on our best friends

Dogs speak with body language. Some so subtle we don’t even realize they’re signals. A wagging tail doesn’t always equal a happy dog - it’s the position and stiffness of the tail that’s important to watch. Never approach a dog you don’t know. Let them come to you if they so choose.
UPDATE: Miss Bea was bright eyed and back to herself by 5 AM. Schrodinger still flat at 5 AM - did not move out of an armchair all night (I know because I stayed up with him). Off to the vet at 8 AM. Both were given fluids, both ate some food, treated for GI upset, bloodwork happily showed nothing out of whack.
Since nothing in their world changed except that food, seems like a pretty direct line for cause/effect.
Glad to have our little friends looking bright and normal, though with some weird lumps from their sub-q fluids. THANK YOU to everyone for the love & support. Kept me going all night, that's for sure!
I've got two sick cats - vomiting, liquid diarrhea. Both are now subdued but hanging in. Neither keeping food down. Will get them to the vet in the AM. More than a little worried about them.
BOTH were fed Friskies canned food. Not our usual brand but bought in a shortage situation.
Both cats are indoor kitties, healthy, happy. Until we began using Friskies - then Friday when they began to be "fussy" about their food, often leaving what we gave them which is not typical.
Looking around FB and 'net I am seeing more than a few reports of sick and dead cats on Friskies. Heartbreaking.
Please, if your cat is sick or dying or dead -- file a report with the FDA's safety reporting portal https://www.safetyreporting.hhs.gov/
I will also be contacting Purina/Friskies tomorrow after my cats see the vet. Fingers & paws crossed this will pass.
SHARE please so that other cat lovers know! and maybe some cats can be spared. I'm sure your cats are probably doing just peachy on Friskies; mine are not. For those whose cats may also be in trouble, I am posting this so that *IF* Friskies is part of your cat's woes, you've got it on your radar.

Socialization of dogs especially during crucial periods of development is probably one of, if not the most, important factor in molding a dog’s temperament, skills and confidence. Socialization isn’t just about play. It’s about developing skills to interact with people and other dogs, confidence with a variety of environments, sounds, situations and objects. Socialization should begin with littermates and continue when they leave their littermates. Dogs who are provided healthy socialization learn to develop bite inhibition, social cues and more. Here is my favorite and one of the most valuable resources for raising your pup.
"Puppies provided with poor socialization or deprived of environmental exposure often develop lifelong deficits and dysfunctional behaviors. A puppy isolated early in life from other puppies and humans will not only fail to establish satisfying social contact with conspecifics or enjoy companionship with people later in life (such puppies are extremely fearful of any social contact), they will also exhibit widespread behavioral and cognitive disabilities as well. Isolated puppies exhibit poor learning and problem-solving abilities and are extremely hyperactive or rigidly inhibited, are emotionally over-reactive and unable to encounter novel social or environmental situations without extreme fear and avoidance, and are socially and sexually incapacitated."

The whole concept of 'pack leadership' in domestic dogs as it is commonly understood has long been dismissed by trainers, veterinarians, veterinary behaviorists and modern behavioral science.
There’s no actual science behind it so take comments about it with a grain of salt.
Dog owners are advised never to adopt two puppies from the same litter, but why? Kayla Fratt investigates the scientific basis for "littermate syndrome."

When adding a pet to the household, it's important to plan and fully prepare before the new addition comes home.
These are six ways you can teach your dog or puppy the trade game, in order to manage your dog's chewing habit. While puppies teeth, mature dogs also need to chew to exercise their jaws, massage their gums, clean their teeth, and to relieve stress and boredom.
A drug I’ve never been comfortable with is one of the most prescribed yet worst choices and especially so for dogs with noise phobia. Essentially this drug shuts down the central nervous system making it difficult for dogs to move or express their fear but leaving their cognition intact. If that’s not enough it can actually heighten their sensitivity to sound. Read on to learn more about why you should reconsider the use of this drug.

Many cats and dogs are still being given Acepromazine (Ace) to help them cope with fireworks and thunderstorms. This is NOT good!
Whole Dog Journal has outlined a 5-step plan to help your noise phobic - sound sensitive dog through rough thunderstorms or loud firework displays.
The July 4 holiday is almost upon us – a source of distress for many dogs, with its days and days of popping and cracking sounds of firecrackers and fireworks, followed by one very long day and night of firecrackers, fireworks, and BOOMING fireworks. It’s not actually something I have personally...
A must read.
All too often pet owners get the blame for spreading false information about pet food. A recent article published on VeterinaryPracticeNews.com is another one of those instances where pet owners get the blame when in truth the veterinarian is the guilty party for spreading pet food misinformation.

Targeting! Working with Peter on hand targeting today. This pup is sharp! He attends to every task and picks up things at lightning speed! Hand targeting is useful to get your dog to focus, follow you, move towards your direction, and can be transferred to targeting other objects like bells, buttons, even light switches! And as with any cues your pup learns, the more desirable behaviors they have in their toolbox, the more they will offer those desirable behaviors in place of naughty ones! Dogs repeat what reaps rewards. Rewards can be treats, praise, toys or attention. What motivates your dog?
