I must confess, I’m not good at keeping up with this social media stuff. So I’ll try to get everything caught up with this post. Here’s what’s been going on in the Fall 2021 at Smoky Valley Angus.

September saw the return of our main herdsire, E&B New Addition 608 from a 19 month hiatus producing semen for Select Sires. He is currently servicing a group of fall calving cows and looks to not be missing a beat.

November 20th was an exciting day for us as we tried to juggle two different female sales in two different states at the same time. Thankfully I was just tech savvy enough to figure out online bidding from my phone, and was able to purchase two females out of the Dalebanks Angus program including lot 132(pictured). At the same time, we were in North Platte, Nebraska at the annual Baldridge/Tiedeman female sale and stuck it out and came home with two heifers that I hope will have a big impact in our program in the years to come. Emulota 770 is a deep bodied, powerful Connelly Gary daughter that is due to True North next month. Emulota 121 is an 11 month old heifer by the deceased WAR Cavalry and looks to be following in the footsteps of her dam, Emulota 013, a longtime donor in the Tiedeman program and dam of the Select Sires bull, JMB Traction.

That’s what’s going on in central Kansas as we wrap up 2021, and look forward to 2022. As you finish reading this I would like for everyone to keep our fellow cattle producers in Russell county in your thoughts and prayers, and if you can spare any feed, fencing material, or just a day or two this spring to go up and help rebuild, please do so. Thank you to all the new views and “likes” on the page, and I promise I will do better in 2022! God bless!
