If you have ever wondered how important spay/neuter is.... Frosty is just 4 months old. She was found about a month ago. Alone, malnourished, ear mites, sick, eye bulging outside of socket. A Good Samaritan brought her to the Shelter where she was.placed in foster care. A month later, after surgery to have her eye removed, antibiotics, ear mite Ned's, and lots of healthy food, just look at her. She has a good life, waiting on her Forever Home.
But did you hear the "4 months"? Frosty was one of the unlucky babies who has gone into heat at 4 months. 4 MONTHS! A BABY. If Frosty was not in a foster home, she would be pregnant right now. By 6 months, this baby would be having babies. Even worse. She could get pregnant, for the second time, while still nursing her babies. By ten months. This baby, and 10 months is still a baby, could be a mother twice over!
Now do you understand why we push spay/neuter? Not just to prevent unwanted litters, but to save our much-to-young mothers (cats and dogs).
Please get your pets spayed or neutered. Cats by 4 months. Dogs by 6 months. And, if you can, spay or neuter a stray.
Call your local Vet or call AL Spay/Neuter Clinic at 205-956-0012.
