Just a couple a goofballs playing after a free walk yesterday evening.

What's a free walk? A free walk has no or little structure. It's when a dog can walk wherever they choose and smell anything they want. Its their time. It's something I do at the end of the day as a reward.

A structured walk is when a dog remains by your side during a walk unless instructed too such as to go potty.

It's comforting to see Sadie is ready to make friends again. After a couple reactive dog encounters she hasn't been too trustworthy of other dogs.

Not only is the positive socialization benefiting Sadie, but it's benefiting Trixie as well. It's important for puppies to have positive interactions with other dogs. One bad interaction can potentially ruin a dog for life.

The tethering method is my go to for puppies or adult dogs that are out of control. I either 1) tie them to something 2) let the leash drag depending on the situation. This method has several benefits such as correcting bad habits like jumping or biting feet, aid in potty training, teaching boundaries, the list continues. The leash is the most valuable tool in teaching a dog good manners.

For Trixie she has a leash drag 95% of the time but last night I tied her to the fridge. Why? The answer is simple, so I can keep an eye on her while I made dinner. I didn't want Trixie to hide and have a potty accident, jump in a kid's face, or grab something she wasn't suppose too.

Remember, a puppy or dog that doesn't know rules and boundaries should always be supervised or crated if undivided attention can't be given. If the dog does wrong during unsupervised time then it's the owner's fault.

A Little About Us

Our certified Master Trainer, Raven, offers all breed dog training. Services include: in-home training, private training, group classes, therapy dog training, service dog training, agility, tracking, and nose work classes. Raven obtained her basic/advance obedience, canine behavior, and kennel managment certification from Conifer Canine in Oct 2018. In Spring 2019 she returned to school to get her Master Trainer certification, areas of study include: decoy work, police k9, detection, trailing/tracking, search and rescue, and service dogs. Raven is also an AKC Evaluator, C.L.A.S.S Evaluator, and Therapy Pets Unlimited evaluator. She has several years experience training dogs and she is a K9 handler for the Vigo County Search and Rescue. Her K9 Athena, is nationally certified in human remains detection. Raven and her husband, Derek, co-handle K9 Medea who is in training for tracking and human remains detection.

On occasion we have German Shepherd puppies for sale. All breeding stock are health tested (DM, Hips, and Elbows). Puppies are raised around other dogs, cats, and children. They are temperament tested and will be placed in appropriate homes. They have began potty training and obedience training (sit and walking on leash) before going home. Pups are registered and come with a care package.

We have began helping our local shelters and rescue by offering free training services to prepare dogs for their future families. Dogs are taught how to heel, sit, down, stay, come, place, kennel manners, and door manners. This prepares them to take the AKC Canine Good Citizen test after they are adopted. We also work with shelter dogs that have behavioral problems. If you would like to donate to CARE Rescue or the Greene County Humane Society please contact them directly or us.
