Dr Bear will see you now! Bear is a 17 week old Golden retriever that specializes in puppy kisses and cuddles!

Did you know that Golden Retrievers originated in Scotland? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 The breed was developed by Lord Tweedmouth when he bred a “yellow retriever” with a Tweed Water Spaniel in 1864!

Do you always appreciate when you get new clothes as gifts?👕👖👗 In Iceland it is a tradition to give clothing because of the “Yule Cat”. The legend goes that around Christmas time an enormous black cat will sneak around at night sniffing everyone’s clothing. If the clothes are not new, the owner might become a victim of the yule cat's mischief.

🐾 Did you know? Cats have a sweet tooth deficiency! 🍪🐱 While we're indulging in delicious Christmas cookies and festive sweets, our feline friends couldn't care less about the sugary goodness. Cats lack taste receptors for sweetness, making those holiday treats a bit 'meh' for them. 😸🚫🍬Instead of sharing your sweets (which we do not recommend), cozy up with them with their favorite blanket or play with their favorite toy!

🌨️❄️ Did the chilly weather yesterday spark your interest in cats? 🐾✨ Let's talk about the fascinating Snowshoe cat, especially since it's Cat Lover Month! Did you know they were officially recognized as a breed in the swinging '60s?
Back then, a Philly-based breeder was breeding Siamese cats. In one litter, a couple of kittens stole the show with their distinctive snowshoe-like markings. A touch of white between the eyes in a charming "V" shape, all four paws dipped in snowy white, and those mesmerizing blue eyes made these cats stand out in the crowd!
Their personalities also make them stand out as well! They love to talk to their owners. They are also very intelligent and loving!

Many of you may be concerned about the outbreak of an unknown canine respiratory disease that has been spreading around the United States. This mysterious illness has garnered considerable attention due to its severity and widespread impact. Key aspects of this disease include:

1. Nature of the Illness: Veterinarians have observed a significant increase in the number of dogs presenting with acute respiratory infections. These infections range from mild and self-limiting conditions to severe cases leading to life-threatening pneumonia . This illness seems to be resistant to common antibiotics and traditional diagnostics often return with a negative result.
2. Possible Causes: Researchers suggest that the illness could be caused by a new type of bacterial infection. This infection is particularly concerning as it may be highly adept at evading the canine immune system. The exact nature and origin of the pathogen, however, remain unclear .
3. Preventative measures and symptoms- To reduce the risk of your dog contracting this respiratory illness please limit the time your dog is around other dogs or high trafficked areas. Also keeping your dogs Bordetella and Influenza vaccines up to date will also aid in the prevention.

The names of this year's Pardon turkeys are Liberty and Bell!!

These 2 birds were pardoned from becoming a Thanksgiving meal! These birds were hatched in July in Minnesota. They made their way to Washington DC for their big day in a stretch Cadillac Escalade. These 42lb turkeys will spend the rest of their lives at the University of Minnesota living the life of luxury!

These Kitties love to put their tails in the air to celebrate Happy Healthy Cat Month. Altair is the current living cat with the longest tail at 16.03 inches. His brother, Cygnus, was the records holder at 17.58 inches.

September is National Guide Dog month. Did you know that only 70% of the dogs that start in the program actually complete the program to become service dogs. These canines go through very rigorous testing to make make sure they are able to handle any situation that may arise!

Commonly when we think of police K9s we think of German Shepards and Belgian Malinois. These breeds are very common due to their fearless, clever and loyal personalities. But there are other breeds that police companies will train due to other qualities. The Rottweiler is loyal and protective. But they also crave excitement and work best in narcotics cases. Beagles sense of smell make them great for sniffing out drugs and banned products. Labrador Retreivers are best at tracking and are hardy enough to work in all types of weather conditions.

Merlin, a black and white cat from the UK holds the record for the loudest purr by a domestic cat. His purr is 67.8dba which is similar to the volume of a shower or hairdryer! Most cats purr at around 25db.

He sure must have a lot to be happy about!

Stay away from the heat and relax with your pooch tonight while watching some tv. Many say their dogs like to watch tv but did you know that your dog sees the video on the tv as more of a series of pictures vs fluid motion like we do. This is because they are well adapted to see motion compared to us. Herding breeds tend to watch most intently because they are drawn to the motion on the TV.
