Unforgettable Underdogs Dog Rescue

Unforgettable Underdogs Dog Rescue What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make. 💕🐶 We find loving, responsible, committed permanent homes.

Unforgettable Underdogs Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit, volunteer run, foster-based, no-kill dog rescue serving the Northeast Wisconsin area. We are dedicated to rescuing the underdogs, those who have found themselves homeless. We strive to help dogs in public high-kill shelters, those that do not do well in shelters, dogs given up or abandoned by their owners or dogs being abused or neglected. An i

n-depth adoption process is used, which includes taking considerable care in finding perfect matches and educating potential adopters about the responsibilities of bringing a dog, especially their particular dog, into their life. Dogs we care for are spayed or neutered, treated for any medical needs they have, and placed into loving foster homes until they find their permanent home. We aim to help distressed dogs, no matter the age, breed, or difficulty of the case. As our finances allow, we aim to take on the most underdog of the cases and help dogs in the most need. We are determined to keep overhead expenses extremely low so that the greatest amount possible goes directly to the care of the animals. We vow to take a follow through interest in the dog’s welfare well beyond the adoption process. Finally, it is our ultimate goal to work with area shelters and other local organizations in order to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless pets.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
We are women passionate about saving the lives of the homeless ‘underdog’, with a common idea and approach to reduce overpopulation.

Let me tell you about my best friend! Hi, it's me, Aurora and I'm looking for my best friend, whether it be human or dog. My foster siblings are great, but I would really love a home where I can call them my actual siblings! A little about me:

I'm a German Shepherd mix
I'm estimated to be under a year old
I have A LOT of energy
I get along with other dogs and if my new home has a dog companion(s), it's necessary they share my size and energy level
If my new home does not have a dog companion(s), it's important my human(s) either walk/run and play with me and are willing to send me to daycare a couple of days a week
I require a fenced in yard and an apartment setting is not suitable for me
I would do best with older children
I get along with kitties but I like to try and play with them
I'm working hard on my manners and am crate/potty trained
I do LOVE to play but I also know when it's time to nap. However, after I wake up, LET'S PLAY!

National Pet Travel Safety Day is a crucial observance that emphasizes the significance of ensuring the well-being and safety of our furry companions during travel. This day serves as a reminder for pet owners and travel enthusiasts to prioritize the needs and security of their pets when embarking on journeys. Several reasons underscore the importance of celebrating National Pet Travel Safety Day:

Promoting Awareness:
By dedicating a day to pet travel safety, awareness is heightened regarding the potential risks and challenges associated with traveling with pets. Pet owners become more informed about the best practices and safety measures to adopt, contributing to the overall well-being of animals during transit.

Ensuring Pet Comfort:
Travel can be stressful for pets, and without proper precautions, it may lead to discomfort or anxiety. National Pet Travel Safety Day encourages pet owners to consider the physical and emotional well-being of their animals, promoting measures that enhance their comfort and reduce stress during journeys.

Preventing Accidents:
Accidents can happen during travel, and pets are vulnerable to injuries if not properly secured. This observance highlights the importance of using appropriate restraints, carriers, and safety equipment to prevent accidents and protect pets from harm in the event of unexpected incidents on the road, in the air, or even at sea.

Education on Regulations:
Different modes of transportation have specific regulations regarding pet travel. National Pet Travel Safety Day provides an opportunity to educate pet owners about the rules and guidelines set by airlines, car transport services, and other modes of travel. Understanding and complying with these regulations ensures a smooth and safe journey for both pets and their owners.

Fostering Responsible Pet Ownership:
Celebrating this day encourages responsible pet ownership. Pet owners are reminded of their duty to prioritize the safety of their animals, promoting a sense of accountability and nurturing a bond of trust between pets and their caregivers.

Preventing Health Issues:
Long journeys and exposure to new environments can pose health risks for pets. National Pet Travel Safety Day underscores the importance of proper health preparations, including vaccinations, hygiene, and access to water and food, to prevent illnesses and keep pets in optimal health throughout the journey.

Encouraging Research and Preparation:
Before embarking on a trip with pets, thorough research and preparation are essential. This day motivates pet owners to plan ahead, considering factors such as pet-friendly accommodations, transportation options, and emergency veterinary services. Proper planning contributes to a smoother travel experience for both pets and their owners.

In conclusion, National Pet Travel Safety Day plays a vital role in creating a safer and more enjoyable travel experience for our beloved pets. By raising awareness, promoting responsible pet ownership, and emphasizing the implementation of safety measures, this observance contributes to the overall well-being and happiness of our animal companions during their journeys.

Dog trainers play a crucial role in fostering positive relationships between dogs and their owners, as well as ensuring the well-being of both the animals and the human communities they are a part of. Here are several reasons why dog trainers are important:

Behavior Modification: Trainers are skilled in understanding canine behavior and can address and modify undesirable behaviors in dogs. Whether it's excessive barking, aggression, or fear-based reactions, trainers can implement effective techniques to reshape a dog's behavior.

Communication Improvement: Trainers help bridge the communication gap between dogs and their owners. Teaching commands and cues ensure that dogs understand what is expected of them, making interactions smoother and more enjoyable for both the pet and its human companions.

Socialization Skills: Socialization is vital for a well-adjusted and balanced dog. Trainers can guide dogs through positive socialization experiences, exposing them to various environments, people, and other animals. This helps prevent behavioral issues that may arise from fear or anxiety.

Promoting Safety: A well-trained dog is a safer dog. Trainers can instill basic obedience commands that are essential for keeping dogs and their owners safe in various situations, such as walking on a leash, coming when called, and staying in place when needed.

Preventing Surrender or Abandonment: Behavioral issues are a common reason for owners to surrender or abandon their pets. Through effective training, trainers can help prevent these issues, ensuring that dogs remain in loving homes and do not contribute to the growing problem of animal homelessness.

Supporting Responsible Ownership: Dog trainers often educate owners about responsible pet ownership, including proper nutrition, veterinary care, and exercise. This holistic approach contributes to the overall well-being of the dog and the community at large.

In summary, dog trainers contribute significantly to the overall happiness, safety, and well-being of dogs and their human companions. Their expertise not only resolves behavioral issues but also enriches the bond between pets and owners, creating a positive impact on both individual households and the larger community.

If you are in search of a Dog Trainer, please let us know! We would be happy to connect you with some of out fabulous trainers!

In reflecting on 2023, our dog rescue journey has been a rollercoaster of emotions, filled with gratitude, struggles, and ultimately, heartwarming success stories. We are immensely thankful for the unwavering support from our dedicated team of volunteers, fosters, donors, adopters and the compassionate community that rallied behind our mission. Your commitment has been the backbone of our rescue efforts, allowing us to provide a safe haven for countless furry companions.

However, acknowledging the struggles and hardships is an integral part of our journey. Navigating through limited resources, unexpected challenges, and the heartbreak of witnessing the pain some of these animals have endured can be overwhelming. Yet, it is precisely these difficulties that fuel our determination to make a difference. Each obstacle becomes a stepping stone, a lesson that propels us forward with a renewed sense of purpose.

Amidst the challenges, the success stories shine like beacons of hope. The image of a once-neglected dog finding a loving home, the transformation of a scared pup into a confident companion – these moments encapsulate the essence of our efforts. These success stories are not just about saving dogs; they are about restoring faith, building connections, and proving that, together, we can create a brighter future for every four-legged friend in need. We are so pleased to announce that for the year of 2023- we have helped 74 dogs.

In 10 years as a Rescue, that totals us to help 413 dogs by spaying/neutering, vaccinating, providing complex surgeries to animals that wouldn’t survive with it, specialized diets and medications, provided love and comfort to the neglected, and as our mission states-
Helping homeless dogs make their journey home 🏡 ♥️

Welcome Bucky! 👋🏽

Bucky was SO happy to hitch a ride with us from our northern Rescue partner this weekend. He was found deep in the woods by a Good Samaritan running free with another dog. Unfortunately, the other dog passed away from renal failure (untreated Lyme disease)

Miraculously for Bucky, he tested negative for tick Bourne diseases and is learning all about what life is like as a dog in his foster home. He is not yet available, but stay tuned for for more info on this goofy guy!

💥Introducing Aurora 💥!!! This sweet, spunky, energetic girl is up for adoption! What you need to know about Aurora:
🐾German Shepherd mix and on the smaller side for a German Shepherd
🐾Estimated to be under a year old
🐾Gets along with dogs but needs a dog which matches her energy level
🐾Gets along with cats but she likes to try and play with them
🐾Potty trained
🐾Crate trained
🐾Treat motivated

Aurora will either need an active family who will take her for walks and play with her or a family with another dog(s) which matches her energy level. Aurora LOVES to play. Don’t get us wrong, she does know when it’s time to settle down and she does, but when it’s play time, it’s play, play, play! A house with a fenced in backyard would be the most ideal for her. She does well with children but children over 8 would probably be the most ideal for her because when she gets the zoomies, nothing stands in her way! She is the perfect combination of fun, sweet and social!
