Update: Diamond has been adopted. Thank you for the shares, comments & apps!
🐾🩷
Diamond was purchased by a kind man to get her out of a bad situation. He's been working with her ever since to prepare her for a family of her own.
Here are Diamond's details:
🐾 She is a 5-month-old Olde English Bulldog puppy.
🐾 She LOVES food, scratches, and attention.
🐾 She's a little shy around new people and hesitant around new areas.
🐾 She gets very excited around other dogs and jumps in their face but if they do much, she lays down immediately.
🐾 She tests you when you tell her no, but then complies. (typical bully pup)
🐾 She is leash trained
🐾 She is crate trained
🐾 She is mostly potty trained, but it's still a work in progress.
🐾 She will be spayed prior to adoption
🐾 She's had her puppy shots.
🐾 She is located in the North Central Texas area. (Out-of-area adoptions considered for an approved adopter who is willing to travel to N Central Texas to pick her up.)
Important note:
Diamond is not an ABTRR dog, but we are working with her guardian to help place her in a wonderful home.
ABTRR has committed to helping screen potential adopters to ensure her safety and a great match. Potential adopters must complete our online adoption application and be willing to undergo our screening and home visit process in order to adopt.
Hello, Boston Terrier Nation!
As many of you already know, American Boston Terrier Rescue & Rehabilitation's mission and focus over the past 10-11 years transitioned to healing and rehabilitating senior and special needs dogs.
We realized after a decade and a half of working in the rescue arena that while we love all dogs (especially Bostons!), our hearts were truly with the most overlooked and least adoptable dogs out there - and that's when American Boston Terrier Rescue 2.0 (aka American Boston Terrier Rescue & Rehabilitation) was hatched.
One result of this change is that many of the dogs in our Foster Program end up staying with us for quite a long time (and sometimes forever). This means that we cannot rely on adoption fees to help offset our considerable expenses, so we spend a lot of time and effort on fundraising efforts. We also have wish lists built on a few different platforms, which help us a great deal.
We are often asked how someone can help support the dogs in our program... Our first answer is always, "Apply to be a foster home!", but we realize that's not always possible. With that in mind, we developed wish lists on three popular platforms to help us stock our food/treat pantry and offset the costs of supporting a senior and special needs foster population.

If you'd like to help support seniors like Maggie and Winnie, or dogs with special needs like Charlie and Romeo, or any of the numerous dogs currently undergoing heartworm treatment, we invite you to take a look at our wish lists and send a gift to a dog who touches your heart. ❤
Thank you

Thuy-Linh M. Carroll adopted ABTRR alum, Buster, when he was just a pup. Her love for Buster was evident in everything she did - and it continues today.
Congratulations, Thuy! Your ABTRR family is immensely proud of you. We are so grateful for giving Buster the absolute BEST life a boy could dream of!
I get to share Buster’s love every day. Thank you for interviewing me, ! 👩🏻🍳🐾🫶🏼 https://www.dallasnews.com/food/2024/03/14/meet-thuy-linh-carroll-the-dallas-baker-who-traded-chemistry-for-a-career-in-sweets/
🐾♥🐾 ABTRR Foster Spotlight: Red Maggie 🐾♥🐾
Good morning, everybody! This morning we'd like to introduce you to an absolutely lovely older girl named Maggie (aka Red Maggie or Little Mama) who is currently being fostered in North Texas.
Maggie is a pretty red girl who was found as a stray and never reclaimed. She's a sweet gal who had multiple mammary tumors removed and was spayed upon entering our program. She appears to be hard of hearing, but not completely deaf.
She is brilliant with kids and other dogs, potty trained, and a friendly little lap dog that wags her nub of a tail anytime you even look her way. She is loving and extremely quiet.
Her foster family has fattened her up some from the gaunt figure she was when they picked her up, and all of her surgical wounds have long since healed. She is mostly deaf which does not seem to bother her at all. Her eyes are clear, and her teeth are in very good condition for an older dog.
Potential adopters should understand that Maggie is a TRAVELER. If she is able to get out the door, she will just keep walking and cannot hear calls to come back.
On the flipside, Maggie is also a stage 5 clinger. This is a bonus for a person looking for a constant companion, but for those who prefer a more independent BT, Maggie would not be the right fit. She stays with her person all day, every day.
Maggie would probably be an amazing choice for an older person who is looking for a loving, sweet, joyful companion. She weighs very little and even helps you pick her up with a *hop* into your arms. She LOVES being picked up. She also enjoys sleeping ALL day.
Maggie is available for adoption now and would LOVE to find her forever family. If you have any questions about her, please drop a comment below or contact us at [email protected].
To apply to adopt, please visit our website at www.abtrr.org. We hope to meet Maggie’s forever family soon!
🐾💟🐾ABTRR Foster Spotlight: Tuna🐾💟🐾
Good morning, everybody! This morning we'd like to introduce you to a precious 5 1/2-year-old girl named Tuna (aka Petunia) who is currently being fostered in North Texas.
Tuna came to us when her mom (who loves her very much) suffered some setbacks in her life that rendered her unable to continue to provide for Tuna and her special needs. She took excellent care of Tuna for several years after the accident that rendered Tuna paraplegic, and as a result, Tuna is a truly fantastic little dog who loves everybody she meets, human and canine alike.
Tuna’s mobility issues don’t really slow her down much. While she does not have use of her back legs, she uses a drag bag to scoot around like a pro. She also has two carts, but she prefers to use the bag. Of course, she loves to spend time up on the couch and bed with her people, and she requires the help of her person/people to lift her up, but she’s dainty so there’s no heavy lifting involved. 😉
Tuna’s disability has caused bladder and bowel incontinence, so she requires manual expression, frequent cleaning, and topical medication to keep her healthy. She is a perfect little lady and allows her person to express her bladder & clean her up without a fuss. It’s not a complicated process and she makes it easy. Besides, she’s so darn sweet and cute – totally worth the extra effort!
🐾💕🐾 ABTRR Foster Spotlight: Maggie and Maddie 🐾💕🐾
Good morning, everybody! This morning we'd like to introduce you to a lovely pair of 8-year-old Boston Terrier mix sisters who are currently being fostered in North Texas.
Maggie and Maddie came to us after both of their parents passed away last year. Sadly, the girls lived alone in their family home for months before rescue was made aware of their situation. Once we learned of their predicament, we found a safe haven for them in the ABTRR Foster Program.
The girls are super low-key, and they are great with other dogs, adults, and dog-savvy children. They’re curious about kitties but have been trained to leave the cats at their current foster home alone. They’re also Grade A snugglers, so if you’re looking to become the filling in a dog-sandwich cookie, look no further. These are your girls!
They really are pretty mellow, easy to care for, and even easier to love. 💞 They are storm phobic, but we’ve managed to keep them relatively calm during bad weather with melatonin and quiet crate time together.
Maggie and Maddie are available for adoption now and would LOVE to be your💝 Valentines. If you have any questions about them, please drop a comment below or contact us at [email protected].
To apply to adopt (or foster), please visit our website at www.abtrr.org. We hope to meet their forever family soon!
❣️🐾💙 Adoption Announcement ❣️🐾💙
We have a very special adoption announcement to share with y'all...
Our longest-term foster boy, Snickers (aka Chompy), has been ADOPTED by his foster family! 🎉
While Snickers/Chompy has always been considered a Forever Foster due to his unpredictability and bite history, his family felt that he needed to officially become part of their family, and so Chompy became a Murphy earlier this month.
Chompy has suffered a number of strokes over the past two years, which have rendered him deaf and have robbed him of much of his mobility, but he still manages to come running (ok, toddling) when it's time to eat or when snacks appear (especially freeze-dried minnows)!
He has developed the "old-man skinnies", but his vet tells us that he's still in darn good shape for a dog his age. He takes joint and musculoskeletal supplements along with cardiac support powder and salmon oil in his raw food, all of which are credited with keeping the old fella in relatively good shape for his advanced age.
We haven't shared a recent photo of the old guy in quite a while. He's showing his age, but this photo shows that his attitude is still fully intact. Here you can see how he has commandeered the bed belonging to his 100 lbs. Malinois brother. 😆
It's no surprise that ABTRR LOVES our golden oldies, and Snickers'/Chompy's tale proves it's never too late to adopt a senior dog! Golden oldies are the BEST! 💛🐾💛

Marlee’s Triumph 🏆 Marlee’s Triumph 🏆 By now, many of you know that a big part of what ABTRR does involves rehabilitation. Whether it’s behavioral, medical, physical, or emotional, ABTRR prides itself on giving our special dogs 🐾 as much time ⏰ as they need to heal. You might also know that we have taken on dogs that don’t quite look like Bostons. 😉 Marlee is one such dog… Marlee is a 7 year-old white bully mix who was saved from a shelter in Western Louisiana in January 2017. Ninety minutes before she was slated to be killed, a rescue angel 😇 reached out with a Hail Mary plea for help. ABTRR answered the call ☎️ , and Marlee has been with us ever since. She was under a year old, emaciated, loaded with parasites 🐛, and pregnant to boot. She was beaten up and covered in wounds as a result of being housed in a kennel with five much larger dogs. We won’t go into detail, but suffice it to say this sweet little dog was starving bc the other dogs didn’t allow her to eat from the one bowl of food the “shelter” provided daily. Marlee demonstrated some pretty serious resource guarding behaviors that made adoption unlikely. Even now, she is fed separately from the rest of the gang. She hasn’t had to fight 👊🏻 for nourishment in years, but those scars run deep. Not much is known about the first several months 🗓 of her life, but six years later, we are seeing the results of her early trauma. Marlee’s foster family moved to a new home 🏡 recently. Soon after, she began displaying symptoms of a neurological issue. She began knuckling on her front limbs, which quickly progressed to weakness and stumbling. She saw her regular vet 🏥 for an exam and began seeing a veterinary chiropractor. Her initial exam results were unremarkable and didn’t tell us very much. We learned from our vet team that symptoms like Marlee’s usually come about as a result of a neck trauma, but there had been no known injury to speak of
📌Ranger Update📌 He’s now approximately 4.5 months old and still looking for his forever home. Be sure to watch his video to the end to see how much weight he has gained! If you are interested in adopting Ranger click here https://www.abtrr.org/info/adoption Home, Home on the Range-r Hi! My name is Ranger. I know, I know! I don’t look anything like a Boston Terrier. So what am I doing on their social media page? I’m glad you asked! Here is my story… I have no idea where my family is (if I have one) or how I ended up living with a bull. That’s right - I made a friend out in West Texas with a big black Angus bull. I was hanging out with him this afternoon when off in the distance I saw a lady and two kids riding their horses. Holy cow!! Humans! I ran as fast as I could to them. This was my chance! I really needed food and water. Living on cow poop isn’t exactly the best nutrition, but desperate times call for desperate measures. I was super lucky to have run into this lady and her kids because she volunteers with American Boston Terrier Rescue & Rehab. She saw me and could see how desperate I was for some help. She picked me up and asked me how I had ended up way out there, 10 miles from the nearest town. I just shrugged my shoulders, and she lifted me up onto the saddle with her. I rode a mile down the road back to their barn. How cool is that? My freedom ride was on a horse! Not every dog can say that. This sweet lady called the rescue and sent them my handsome pictures. They saw how urgent my situation was and agreed to take me on even though I’m not a Boston. I got lucky twice today! She rushed me to the vet where I saw a doctor. The doctor said I was a young buck of just 2-3 months and that I needed subcutaneous fluids. I had some weird bubbles under my skin, but the sweet lady says they won’t be there long because my body will use those fluids to make me feel better. The sweet lady is feeding me small meals every couple
We wanted to say a BIG thank you to everyone who donated towards Ranger’s care! He is getting stronger every day! He’s also working on his recall command and crate training! His foster family is doing an amazing job! If you missed Ranger’s story click here https://fb.watch/iaT1Jof17l/?mibextid=v7YzmG

🐾❤️🐾 Eden Update🐾❤️🐾 Eden was released from the hospital today and went to her new foster home where she will continue to do physical therapy to strengthen her back legs. She is an absolute pro in her wheelchair. She has done this before. She is such a happy, energetic girl. She is just so sweet and well behaved. She knows how to “sit” and “wait”. Smart girl! She will make someone a very nice dog! We still need your help and support for Eden. Her vet bill for 3 weeks of hospitalization with intense physical therapy, and chiropractic care was $1600. If you can spare $5, Eden would really appreciate the help! A huge shout out and thank you to Amanda Hart for getting her wheelchair donated to us and to Julie S. for taking on the role of her loving foster mom and physical therapist! 🎉🎉North Texas Giving Day Spotlight🎉🎉 Meet Fiona! Fiona came into our program at just 24 hours old. She was born with Swimmer’s Syndrome (her back feet were turned backwards) and hydrocephalus (water on the brain). She also had growth retardation, and at 8 months of age she stopped growing altogether. Our veterinarians diagnosed her with dwarfism. She weighs 8 pounds and is the physical size of a 3-month old puppy. Her hydrocephalus is chronic. This isn’t something that can be cured. Our veterinarians took Xrays of her pelvis area and learned that she has a deformed sacrum as well. This is really important information. Part of the job of the sacrum is to efficiently pump the cerebral spinal fluid throughout her spine. Because her sacrum is deformed, it can’t pump correctly and this causes her spinal fluid to collect in the only space available, her brain. Think of a kinked water hose. The water has to back up somewhere. Chiropractic adjustments help to keep her deformed sacrum in alignment as much as possible so that it can work as efficiently as it can. Fiona requires weekly chiropractic adjustments to manage the symptoms of her hydrocephalus. This keeps her headaches away and keeps her feisty, bossy, and large and in charge! Your donation to ABTRR this North Texas Giving Day will ensure that we are able to continue helping dogs with special needs like Fiona! 🐾💙 https://www.northtexasgivingday.org/index.php?section=organizations&action=newDonation_org&fwID=1300
🎉🎉North Texas Giving Day Spotlight🎉🎉 🦽🐾💙 Meet Charlie 💙🐾🦽 Charlie is who we refer to as our million dollar dog. 💸🐾😉 https://www.northtexasgivingday.org/index.php?section=organizations&action=newDonation_org&fwID=1300 Back on July 8, 2017, we received a call from Dallas Animal Services asking us to take a Boston who had been hit by a car and had a fractured back. Turns out, Charlie had WAY more than a fractured back. He had road rash on his eyes that eventually blinded him, he had major trauma to his entire body that resulted in his skin opening up to drain the wounds under the surface, and he had a traumatic brain injury. His multiple injuries were so severe that he spent 3 months hospitalized with our veterinarian team. We spent over $10,000 for this specialized care. They addressed his physical wounds, his fractured spine, and the traumatic brain injury. We fundraised like crazy to cover his medical bills because Charlie was worth it - he was fighting hard to get better AND HE DID! Charlie is the sweetest dog out there! He can boogie on two legs and in his wheelchair. He’s always up for a snack and a head scratch. His favorite pastime is finding the softest, cushiest bed to sleep in and then finding some of the strangest positions to sleep in. Even though he is blind and a paraplegic, he has learned to go in and out of his foster homes doggie door. He is a smart and resilient dog! Your contributions this North Texas Giving Day will ensure our ability to continue helping special needs dogs like Charlie. 🐾💙 https://www.northtexasgivingday.org/index.php?section=organizations&action=newDonation_org&fwID=1300
