Decided I should share about my last vet visit so that if this happens to any of you guys you'll know what to do. Had a puppy that was 18 days old was healthy and chubby and she started choking and seemed like maybe there was thick mucus or something so I brought her to vet. They gave her antibiotic (no anti nausea meds with it) we got home and she started puking and it looked like curdled milk and she was choking on it really bad so I rushed her in and they made me wait in the waiting room for over a half an hour while other people there for routine visits went ahead of me while this puppy was clearly dying. Decided she needed to be euthanized and the vet said she does it IC (through the heart) she took the puppy to the back (she said I wouldn't want to witness it being done) & all of a sudden I heard the loudest scream come from the back & I plugged my ears and could still hear it for at least a minute and a half. I went home and read that they need to sedate them first before ever going into the heart. I set up an appointment with the vet to talk to her and she admitted that the puppy was fully conscious when she did it and she did not sedate the puppy . I had an necropsy done on puppy and it said all of her lung lobes were partially collapsed so for this puppy to scream like that it must have been in an enormous amount of pain. The reason I brought the puppy there was so that it could go peacefully and not have to suffer and this puppy did not go peacefully and the vet agreed. I think about this all day everyday and can still hear her scream and can't get it out of my head. I feel so bad she had to go the way she did. I almost decided to quit breeding. There's hard times being a breeder and sad moments but this was absolutely horrific. I've never never ever heard a puppy scream like that 😢 To everyone out there: insist that your present for any euthanasia. I thought I could trust this vet. Lesson learned the hard way.
