Place scratching posts where your cat spends the most time. If your cat scratches the furniture, put posts next to those objects to provide a better option. In a multicat home, have several scratching posts scattered around.

Vertical scratching posts need to be tall, sturdy, and covered in a claw-appealing texture such as sisal. For horizontal scratching, use corrugated cardboard scratch pads or sisal pads.

Scratching serves many functions so it's not just about conditioning the claws. Scratching is a marking behavior, a way for a cat to stretch, and it's also a displacement behavior. Scratching is an important part of a cat's life.

Pro Plan Joint Care Supplements are an exciting new addition for us ! These treats combine glucosamine, collagen and Omega 3s all in one product and are quite affordable. The chews are easily broke in half and Dr. Trudy says that even her most picky eater eats these without any other bribery. They are available both at the hospital and in our online store at myvetstoreonline.com

“Turn to us for compassionate care...”

2002, that’s when it all began: the dream that Dr. Trudy had to provide veterinary care for the Little River area. Her idea was to spend time getting to know a client and his/her pet so they weren’t just another customer, rushed in the door and rushed out the door, as she saw happen at other hospitals where she had worked. Pets needed to be treated compassionately and pet owners needed to have a trusted resource for answers about their pets---whether it be management of a medical condition, advice regarding surgery, or even just basic care. Every pet should be welcomed into this world, provided a loving home with access to veterinary care, and at the end of their life, be surrounded by people who care and treat them with dignity. This is the philosophy of pet care here at Saint Francis Animal Hospital.
