Precious is a 9 year old spayed female yorkie. Her owners passed and she needs a new home.
She is very sweet and social, and loves kids and cats. She does not love my big dog, so she may do better in a home without other dogs.
She has been vaccinated and is up to date on heartworm prevention. She has some minor issues typical of an older yorkie but no major health concerns at this time. The biggest challenge is her skin, which is getting much better and should be ok with some continued management.
She is very social and wants to be with people all the time. She has a little separation anxiety and would do well with someone who is home a lot. Overall she is calm and loving, and would make a great companion! Message me if you would like more information.

This dog needs a home! He is currently with a foster who found him as a stray. Super sweet with her other dogs and her kids. Needs some manners with cats and some leash training, but knows basic commands and loves people.
Just look at that face. Please share so this sweet baby can find a forever home!

Folks, this here is Flower. My family and I just adopted her. She had some injuries and trauma, and received excellent care, but will need ongoing care to help her heal completely. She is the most precious thing and has stolen our hearts.
Please consider opening your heart and home to senior and special needs animals. They need you, and give so much love and joy in return! A special thanks to Community Cats of Central Arkansas for rescuing this girl and helping place her with us. They do such awesome work helping so many cats in need.

All tuckered out after his check up.
Geriatric pets often need more frequent exams, bloodwork and other management to keep them healthy and comfortable as long as possible. It is so much less stressful for them at home! This little fella got some lab work today, along with treats and snuggles, and he is ready for his nap. We love our senior patients.

These little pups still need a good home! They are about 12 weeks old now. Not sure the mix. They have had two rounds of vaccines and deworming, and will get a third soon. They are getting well socialized with their fosters but need their forever home!

Just a friendly reminder this deer season, antlers are not safe options for dog chews!

Although they are sold as dog chews deer, elk, and moose antlers aren't safe for dogs. They can break teeth and damage a dog's GI tract.

We have an announcement to share!
Effective December 1, we will be changing our name, and will be known as:
Old River Veterinary Hospice and Home Euthanasia
We will be focusing on providing in-home hospice, palliative care, geriatric/disease management, and home euthanasia for pets. As many of you know, we already provide these services, and we are passionate about it. We will be expanding our offerings and availability in these areas. As part of this change, we will no longer be able to provide routine wellness care/vaccines or urgent care. While we will miss those well pet visits, we feel that the geriatric pet population is in need of services devoted to their special care. The team will stay the same, but our direction will change.
We welcome any questions you may have as we make this transition. Please feel free to reach out by phone or email for anything you may need. We are very grateful for all the support from the community these last two years, and we look forward to serving the needs of pets and their families in this new role.

TW: pet loss

Folks, this is a personal post. The question I am asked most is “how do you do this?” People are referring to the in home euthanasia services we provide. Allow me to share.
This little nugget of cute is my own cat, Kita. This was one of her last photos. I had to let her go a few weeks ago.
Kita came to me as a pregnant stray, only 6 months old (yes, cats can get pregnant that young), when she wandered up on my driveway. She was a sweet, shy little girl and has had my heart from day one. She fought the good fight the last few months, and when it was time, I helped her over the rainbow bridge in her favorite spot: on my lap, in the bed. It hurt my heart to do it myself, as it always does, but I would have it no other way. She was so afraid of the carrier, the clinic, strangers, all of it. But I was fortunate enough to be able to let her pass in the security and comfort of home. I was able to grieve in privacy, in the quiet peace of my home.
So how do I do it? Because I want as many pets as possible to have this experience when they pass: at home, in their safe place, as comfortable as we can possibly make it. I want every pet owner to be able to grieve their beloved pet in as much privacy as we can give. Our wonderful central Arkansas veterinary clinics do a great job providing compassionate, caring euthanasia services, and I am grateful for them. Sometimes we don’t have a choice. But when we do, and we can let our sweet pets pass at home with dignity, it is a blessing for all. I do it for those pets, and for their amazing families. For those of you who have trusted me with this task of utmost importance, I thank you. Truly.

Lucy could not contain her excitement about our visit yesterday. This is what she had to say when she saw us arrive! ❤️❤️❤️ Needless to say that precious girl gave us lots of cuddles and love during the visit. We are grateful for such sweet babies to love on at work!

This little pup is Jill, and she needs a home! She and her brother were found as strays, and they are currently being fostered but this girl needs to find her forever family. She is about 9 weeks old, had first set of vaccines, and will likely be a medium sized adult. She loves attention, belly rubs, people and other dogs! She is absolutely precious.
