Waddle they be? We will be revealing the sexes of our THREE baby penguin chicks on Saturday, November 30 at 11AM at the Penguin Point Exhibit, but three lucky people will be able to find the answers early and win a painting from a baby! Did you know it’s nearly impossible to tell the sex of a penguin by just looking at them? We need to wait for them to be big enough for a blood draw and receive the DNA results.
Zoo friends, we recently had an incident in our Arkansas Heritage Farm where one of our farm animals was fed something harmful. For our animals’ safety, your visitor safety, and safety of our staff, please remember these rules: •Do not cross animal enclosure barriers or fences. •Do not cross gates. •Do not feed Zoo animals any outside food. •The Heritage Farm has a feeding machine that has feed that is acceptable to feed the animals. Please only feed them this food.

It’s hot out there! Even our Cape Crested Porcupines, Indigo and Iris, are finding ways to beat the heat with some refreshing ice. 🌞 Here are some tips on how to stay cool during your Zoo summer visits: 1) Stay Hydrated: Remember to take breaks and drink plenty of water. Bring a reusable water bottle; we have several refill stations throughout the Zoo to help you stay refreshed. 2) Cool Down Spots: Take advantage of our mister stations to beat the heat. You can also cool off in the Reptile House, Cheetah Outpost, and Café Africa, which are perfect for a break from the sun. 3) Animal Habitats: Animals have access to both their indoor and outdoor areas, which means during times of excessive heat, they may access cooler areas that are out of view. Note that while some habitats offer indoor viewing, not all do. 📸 Cred: Keeper LeeAnn
BABY UPDATE! Baby Kota is starting to show interest in solid foods like corn. While he will continue to nurse for a few years, mom (Berani) is letting him start to bite on a few things as his teeth are slowly coming in.
