It’s official! The Pulaski County school system has closed for Thursday and Friday due to weather concerns.

Therefore, Briarwood Animal Hospital WILL be CLOSED this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday due to weather.

Everyone stay safe and keep yourself and your pets warm! Only drive in case of emergency!

According to our local weather team, we are expecting inclement weather on Sunday, January 5, 2025. If on Monday, January 6, 2025, Little Rock School District will be closed, we here at Briarwood Animal Hospital will also be closed. We will continue to update you all as best as we can. Happy Howlidays from Briarwood!

Ingredients:
1 cup frozen cranberries
½ cup plain applesauce
¼ cup dried cranberries
2 cups whole wheat flour (you can substitute any flour)
2 cups rolled oats
2 eggs
2 tbsp melted coconut oil

Recipe:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Microwave the applesauce and frozen cranberries together until thawed. This will give your cookies a light red coloring.
3. Pulse the fruit mixture and dried cranberries in the food processor until combined.
4. Pulse in the rolled oats and flour, then add the eggs and coconut oil until a dough forms.
5. Work the dough on a floured board, adding more flour as necessary.
6. Roll out dough to about ¼ of an inch thick and cut into festive shapes using cookie cutters or a small knife.
7. Bake for 20 minutes and let cool completely before serving.

🍁 Thanksgiving Closure Reminder 🍁

As a reminder, Briarwood will be closed on November 28th in observance of Thanksgiving. Please plan ahead for any medication refills or appointment needs. We WILL be open on Friday for regular appointments and call-ins throughout the day!

Our first trick or treater came to Briarwood today for a check-up! He even brought his helpers dinosaur treats!! He was the bestest boy for his appointment and got all the love!

Briarwood is ready to take pictures of all pets dressed up for appointments tomorrow for their own personal Halloween post!! We can’t wait to see you all!

A few weeks ago at Vet Talks 2024, Briarwood Animal Hospital received the Community Giving Award! We couldn’t do it without Dr. Hale and all of our amazing team members.

See the reasons we were nominated for the award below:
Briarwood is a pilar in the Little Rock community and makes LIFE SAVING impact on their community. Recently (2024) a pet parent came to Briarwood with her ill pet; while getting out of her vehicle she collapsed in the parking lot and had a heart attack. The team sprang into action calling 911 and Dr. Hale provided CPR to this client in the parking lot of Briarwood Animal Hospital. This client was able to receive the medical attention she needed, and Briarwood ensured her beloved pet was taken care of while she was treated at a local hospital. To ensure his team felt prepared to help both clients and pets in need, Dr. Hale solicited the services of an off-duty Fireman who is certified in CPR to educate the team with annual training to equip them with the skills to care for one another and their community. They also partner with a local charity organization in Little Rock, called Immerse Arkansas. Briarwood gives an opportunity for at risk young individuals interested in learning life and job skills the chance to grow while taking a 12-week externship at Briarwood learning hands on skills to build a pathway to their future.

Last, but certainly not least, we are pleased to introduce Terrence! For the last year, he has been a strong contender to the kennel team. The pets were safe and happy under his hand and, man, were those kennels clean! His cleanliness and great touch with animals have proved to be a benefit to our grooming team. With that being said, meet your new groomer! He is currently going through training; but in a few short weeks, he will begin taking appointments of his own!

Be sure to call and ask for him for your next grooming appointment and thank him for his work!

Welcoming our groomers, Sylvia and Sandy!

Sylvia started working with Briarwood Animal Hospital in 2016. Colleagues and clients keep returning for her excellent technique and happy dogs at pick up! Outside of work, she enjoys playing with all of her pets, including horses, as well as attending fun concerts with friends.

Starting just around one year ago, Sandy has shown great skill. She works with dogs, and cats, giving her more patience than most. She is quick to bring attention to detail to our veterinary medical staff if something is noted during her appointment.

Be sure to show them your love for all that they do for your pets beauty and health!

Happy to introduce the last two veterinary assistants of our Briarwood team!!

Starting off with Sara, a veterinary assistant that joined our team in May 2022. After working in the pediatric dental field for several years, she found her passion in the medical field in hopes to continue working with animals. Her constant desire to learn and strong will to lead even through a busy schedule makes her invaluable to our team. Not only is she great with pets, but she is even fantastic with our clients. Clearly, she loves dental cleanings, but she also enjoys speaking with clients to check in on the pets after their surgery or medical appointments. Outside of work she enjoys calm evenings watching movies on the couch with her family, spending time with friends, and playing with her 3 tiny dogs!

Finally introducing our newest veterinary assistant, Emily! Bringing high energy and enthusiasm to veterinary medicine, she has been a valuable asset to our team. She has shown a strong will to work any case without fear due to her several years working in this field. Like several members of our team, she thoroughly enjoys surgeries and dentals. Due to her vibrant and playful personality, she also appreciates client interaction and communication. Outside of work she enjoys going to the gym and spending time with her two dogs and two cats.

We didn’t forget these other three amazing receptionists!

Thrilled to introduce Martha, a receptionist that loves the Briarwood so much that she had to come back a second time! Martha is a kind soul that goes the extra mile for our clients and their pets. She recently adopted two older cats to give them a final home ❤️ We are excited to have Martha on our team, and we hope you are too!

Pleased to also recognize Charlotte! From client to colleague, she brings lightness to our team. She cares for pets and people like they are her own family. Client happiness and clinic organization is what she strives for daily, so be sure to wish her a big thank you next time you see her!

Last, but not least, we also are ecstatic to recognize Taylor! Working not only the front desk, she also contributes to the activities in the back. She has become an awesome veterinary assistant to us as well as to our sister clinic, Chenal Valley Animal Hospital. She is always willing to step up when needed in any situation. Due to her positive and eager attitude, we are excited to have her on our team!

Introducing Dominique! After meeting her at a lunch work meeting, we were excited to bring her in due to her bright smile and positive personality! Since starting at Briarwood, she has brought in new ideas to implement at the clinic and even adopted a new puppy! Give her a warm welcome at your next appointment!

I’d say we would introduce Ms. Teddie, but if you’re a Briarwood client, you’ve spoken with or met with Ms. Teddie! She has been with BAH for almost 34 years!!Clients love her calm demeanor and passion for animal health. She truly has worked her way up from kennel assistant to veterinary assistant to receptionist. To her, Briarwood is HOME, and she would do anything for our clients and their pets 💕 Teddie is the definition of Briarwood’s values and keeps our culture sane. We love you Ms. Teddie and make sure you guys let her know too!

P.S. apparently, Dr. Penny’s dog Maizey wanted to join in with these girls too.
