Out of the Woods was established in 2007 by Kathy Woods along with Shawn Schouweiler. OOTW is a private, not-for-profit, 501(c) (3) organization.

Our focus is assisting animals and people who help animals in areas where Municipal services are not available. We receive no funding from the federal, state, or county governments, nor from any corporate entity. We are a network of volunteers who allow our rescued dogs and cats to live with us in foster care until they are adopted.

This beautiful border collie mix is looking for a special home where she can be loved, given attention and appreciated for the sweetheart she is.

Eevee is 3 years old and the perfect size at 36 pounds. She is very friendly and loves kids. She will bark when someone knocks on your door or drives up in your yard, but as soon as she is introduced to the visitor, she's just fine and friendly to them. Eevee works fine on leash and the one time we have had her in the car, she did great.

Although we are not positive what Eevee's breeds are, she might have some herding breeds in her, so she is going to be fairly energetic and will need exercise to burn off this energy. So playtime, walking, jogging, dog park ...

Sadie Sue and Spenser along with 39 other amazing pets are available for adoption!

Sadie and Spencer are two precious companions who share a special bond and must be adopted together. These lovable pups will bring double the joy and companionship to their future family!

Sadie is a beautiful 9-year-old likely Pointer/Border Collie mix with a heart of gold. She is the sweetest dog you’ll ever meet and thrives on making her people happy. Sadie is a true companion dog who loves nothing more than to lay outside in the sun or cuddle up with her person. She’s always up for a walk and enjoys sniffing around, taking in all the scents of the world.

Sadie listens well and is a wonderful addition to any family. She’s great with cats and dogs and currently enjoys her days at doggie daycare, where she gets along with pups of all sizes—from tiny Chihuahuas to big Shepherds. Her calm, friendly nature makes her a perfect fit for any household.

Spencer is a charming 10.5-year-old English Pointer mix with a playful and gentle spirit. While he’s a bit older, he still loves a good game of tug-of-war and has a youthful energy at heart. Spencer is a graduate of the Paws in Prison program, where he learned basic commands, and he continues to be well-behaved and attentive.

Spencer loves spending time indoors basking in the sun and is a fan of long, cozy naps. He has some sensitive skin and allergies, but a lamb-based, corn-free diet has worked wonders for him. Like Sadie, Spencer enjoys playing with other dogs at daycare and gets along beautifully with cats and dogs of all sizes in his foster home. He also loves car rides, walks, and visiting his foster family’s farm, where he enjoys running on 5 acres of open land.

Oria and 35other amazing pets available for adoption!

Oria is a beautiful big fluffy girl who is three years old and weighs in around 55 pounds. She is a mix of Golden Retriever and Great Pyrenees. She has come into the OOTW program because her owner had to take a job where he works out of town for weeks on end. This leaves her and her sister, Hunny, outside, alone in the yard with a couple of different people stopping by to replenish food and water every couple of days. It's not a good situation and we would love to find these girls homes and they do not need to be adopted together.

As these girls are quite a ways out of Little Rock, we have been unable to get them to the vet just yet, but we are working on this and we are moving forward with taking applications for adoption and will get the vetting worked in as we go.

Oria is a gentle, loving girl who likes nothing better than being with her people. Well behaved, house trained and crate trained, we believe she will make a fantastic family pet and we expect her to be good with children even though she's not been with kids up to this point.

(Vetting includes, but is not limited to, the following: Spay, heartworm test, rabies shot, annual vaccinations, kennel cough vaccination, flea/tick/heartworm preventative and microchip.)

Bud is an awesome dachsund/chihuahua mix 4 year old young man. Bud's fosters call him Cuddly Dudley due to his love of cuddling. Although Bud was shy at first, he quickly came out of his shell and now follows his foster parents around the house just waiting for them to sit down so he can jump on their laps. Bud is from a hoarding situation so he would do best with another dog to play with. His foster home has 3 other dogs of all sizes and he gets along with all of them. Bud also had cats in his former home so he should be good with cats as well.

These sweet 7-week-old female pups are full of curiosity and cuddles. They are a mix, with her mom being a lovable Blue Heeler, and her dad’s background is a mystery, making them even more unique. They are already showing signs of being intelligent and active, likely inheriting the herding instincts from her mom. They are ready to learn and grow with a family who can provide them with plenty of love, attention, and playtime. ALEXA and 28 other amazing pets available for adoption!

Alexa came to OOTW due to a conflict between her and another dog in the home. It's really a sad situation ... There is a small, bossy dog in the home, a 20-pound rat terrier, who obviously has a very small brain. She likes to taunt Alexa and that's just not working out ... for the rat terrier. Yet it continues. So, after every avenue has been exhausted to stop this behavior, the owners have decided to rehome Alexa so she can be in a more relaxed home and live the life she deserves!

Alexa is a six year old 71 pound purebred pitbull who is absolutely beautiful and loving. The case coordinator just met her today and kisses were eagerly given all around! We did a photo shoot and, wow, what a great model she was ... really showing off for the camera (as you can see!) We also took her to the vet to bring her current on all vetting and she was exceptional with the vet even though needles were involved! She rides well in a car, she's okay on leash and she's great with other dogs (unless they are bossy, in-your-face-barking/snapping dogs, like she lives with in her current home ... and honestly, she is fine with this dog unless the dog starts growling, snapping and barking in her face.). She really enjoys other dogs her own size and is eager to play, play, play! She is a super fast runner and loves circling the field with other dogs who like to run along side her! Alexa enjoys the water too and likes to wade and splash in water. We believe she would do well at a dog park and enjoy that immensely!

Alexa is current on all vetting is heartworm negative. She is crate trained and will crate up the instant she is given her command! She is 100% house trained and knows basic commands. This girl is a beauty and just needs a home where she doesn't have to live with bratty little bossy dogs. Alexa is currently in a home with a 2 year old child and is just fine with the child. She's a beautiful girl with a beautiful personality!

These four adorable 6-week-old Collie and Shepherd mix puppies have already overcome so much in their young lives. Born under a house where they were trying to stay warm with their mom, they had a tough start. With frigid temperatures closing in, we knew we had to get them to safety—and we’re so glad we did!

At first, they were shy and uncertain about human touch, but with gentle care and love, they’ve completely blossomed. Now, these pups can’t get enough snuggles! They love being held, cuddled, and showered with affection. They’re also big fans of other dogs and would thrive in homes with furry companions to play and grow with.

These puppies have already learned how amazing life with humans can be, and they’re ready to find families who will continue to show them love, warmth, and security. They’ve got big hearts, wagging tails, and so much joy to share.
