Out of the Woods was established in 2007 by Kathy Woods along with Shawn Schouweiler. OOTW is a private, not-for-profit, 501(c) (3) organization.

Our focus is assisting animals and people who help animals in areas where Municipal services are not available. We receive no funding from the federal, state, or county governments, nor from any corporate entity. We are a network of volunteers who allow our rescued dogs and cats to live with us in foster care until they are adopted.

Autumn, Ollie, Miss Piggy & Miley as well as 69 other amazing pets are waiting for forever homes!

AUTUMN is a 1-2 year old petite 45lb love bug! She is wonderfully sweet, and incredibly gentle — the kind of dog who wins hearts without even trying. She gets along beautifully with other dogs and would be a great companion for a calm, loving household. You need to meet Autumn to appreciate how perfect this dog is!

OLLIE, a 5 year old, 65 lb, Arkansas Brown Dog, He is a sweet boy who loves people, kids, and cats! Ollie is looking for a home where he can be snuggled and be apart of a loving family! He will make someone the perfect companion.

MISS PIGGY - This little piggy went to town, but when she came back… nobody was home! She wasn’t sure what happened, but don’t worry — we stepped in to help. Miss Piggy's days revolve around her two favorite things: eating and sleeping (and then sleeping and eating again). She doesn’t care about being the belle of the ball — all she needs is a cozy spot to nap and a full bowl to keep her tail wiggling. You’ll hear her soft grunts as she dreams, perfectly content and happy as a pig in a mud hole.

MILEY Miley is a stunning 2-year-old Belgian Shepherd Malinois mix, weighing in at about 80 lbs. True to her breed, Miley is full of energy and needs an active home where she can run and play. Miley was diagnosed with Addison’s disease and will need monthly injections along with Prednisone, she is doing great and has responded very well with treatment. Don’t let this deter you from adopting, we are willing to cover the cost of Miley’s monthly injections and prednisone! Miley loves playing with other dogs who can match her rough-and-tumble play style, but she is not a good fit for homes with cats. Due to her high energy and intense play, she may not be suitable for homes with small children. Miley is both housetrained and crate trained!

These sweet 9–10 week old “Arkansas Brown Dogs” were cruelly abandoned and left to fend for themselves — but thankfully, help arrived just in time! 💕

Now safe and thriving, these two energetic little pups are full of love, joy, and playful spirit. They’re eager to start their new lives with families who will give them the care and affection they deserve.

Dax, Buddy Boop, Lulu and Domino as well as 74 other wonderful pets are ready for adoption!

DAX is a stunning 2-year-old Doberman Pinscher (80lbs) with a heart as big as his smile. This sweet boy loves going for walks, playing, and running around in a big yard. He’s smart, affectionate, and happiest when he’s with people who show him love and care. He is dog selective, so would do best in an only dog home.

BUDDY BOOP is a 2 year old who weighs in at around 45lbs. Buddy was surrendered by a homeless man and is now adjusting to new surroundings. Buddy is super sweet and playful. He LOVES stuffed animals! Buddy is great with other dogs!

LULU is a beautifully marked 2.5 year old Shepherd mix. If you like to read for hours, enjoy football games on TV, work from home, or cuddle on the sofa while you watch Sleepless in Seattle for the tenth time, then this dog might be your soul mate. Lulu is good with other dogs and cats!

DOMINO is an 8-month-old Husky/Shepherd mix who currently weighs about 40 lbs. She can be a little shy at first, but with patience and love, her true personality shines through. Her foster family describes her as both loving and playful, and she’s already showing what a wonderful companion she’ll be for the right home.

ZARA is a gorgeous 5-year-old German Shepherd mix, weighing in at 40 lbs of pure love and personality! Zara is the perfect blend of fun-loving energy and snuggle-up calm — whether she’s out on an adventure or curled up for some couch time, she’s happiest just being with her people. 💖 Zara is housetrained and good with other dogs.

Update: Jasper has been adopted! JASPER is a gentle and playful 21-week old puppy who is just beginning to come out of his shell in his foster home. Despite his early abandonment, Jasper's spirit remains unbroken. He's learning the ropes of puppyhood, showing a knack for playful antics that bring smiles all around. We expect Jasper will be only about 20 pounds full-grown.

SADIE & SPENCER - This sweet couple is around 10 years old and totally devoted to each other. They like nother more than to lay outside in the sun or cuddle together on the couch. They both get along with other dogs and cats and would be a great way to add a ton of love to your home.

GRIFFITH is a handsome 6-month old kitten with the best personality. He is always happy and finding something around the house to play with, but in the evening, Griffith is ready to setting down for some lap time.

JONATHAN is a 24 week old kitten with a quirky, funny side that will steal your heart! He may be low-key, but he’s full of charm and unexpected antics that will keep you smiling.

PRISCILLA is a sweet and loving lab mix looking for her forever home. She's about a year - two years old, 50lbs. Priscilla is great with kids and other dogs, and she’s fully potty trained. Despite her gentle nature, she can be a bit shy and fearful of men due to past experiences.

QUINN is a 1.5 year old Calico with a super chill personality. She loves to play with a good string, and would love to call your lap home.

SCOUT is a 9 month old, gentle, petite Labrador mix. She is a bit shy and we are giving her extra attention to help her get a bit more relaxed around strangers. Scout should reach about 50lbs.

DOTTY is an adorable 10 month old, 35lb, Beagle/Bluetick mix. She has puppy energy and a Blue Heeler mind. Which means she’d be an excellent adventure partner, ready to go anywhere and everywhere with you, and learn exactly what you want in a best friend. She tends to try to herd children, so best in a home with kids over 12.

ALVIN is a beautiful 24-week old Catahoula Leopard/Labrador mix. He is loving, playful, good with other dogs, and ready to be your best friend.

PUPPY is a 1-2 year-old bundle of joy, weighing in at 57 pounds of pure love and energy. This playful pup has a heart full of affection and a zest for life. She’s a high-energy girl who adores playtime—whether it’s a game of fetch with her human friends or romping around with other dogs. Puppy is housetrained and ready to thrive in a new home.

FRECKLES is a sweet, gentle soul with a heart full of love just waiting to be shared. This 1 year old (42lbs) is a little shy at first, but warms up quickly and becomes a total lovebug. He adores cuddles, enjoys playtime, and is discovering all the joys of being a beloved pet. Freckles is good with other dogs, children, and is crate trained.

Turbo, Nitro, Willow, Fargo, Astro and Cosmo are available for adoption!!!!

These beautiful babies were born Sept 22, just a few days after their mom was rescued. Their mother is a flat-coated retriever who, once recovered from taking care of this litter, will weigh around 50 pounds, so we are guesstimating that they, too, will grow to be around this weight when full grown. We do not know who daddy was and we are again guessing, but quite possibly Catahoula, Collie, Malamute. They are all males except for the one female, Willow.

These babies will be ready to go to their new homes on November 12 or after. By that time, they will have been wormed twice and received their first puppy shot. Once adopted we will continue with two more puppy shots, a kennel cough vaccination and begin flea/tick/heartworm preventative and will be wormed once more. When they are a little older, we will work with the adoptive families to get each spay/neutered, get a rabies shot and microchipped. All of this vetting is included in the adoption fee of a mere $150.

Zoe, Cleo, Sissy Sophia and Penny as well as 73 other wonderful pets are available for adoption!

ZOE is a beautiful 5.5 year old Labrador Retriever/Rottweiler. She weighs about 64 lbs. Zoe is full of love and energy and her favorite thing in the world is playing with a ball! She will play fetch for hours. Zoe is potty trained and good with most dogs.

CLEO is a beautiful 2.5-year-old Shepherd mix weighing in at 60 lbs of sweetness. A little shy at first, Cleo has a calm and easygoing nature that makes her a joy to be around. She gets along wonderfully with cats and children, and she especially enjoys her daily walks.

SISSY SOPHIA is an adorable 8 month old Shepherd mix, weighing in at 45lbs. Sissy is crate and house trained and is working on leash training. She is an active girl and loves being outside watching the squirrels. Sissy would do well with other dogs or she could easily be an only dog.

PENNY is a 24 week old kitty who is a little shy, but is slowly coming out of her shell. She enjoys playing with toys and watching the world from a safe spot.

These three adorable 6-week-old puppies are full of playful energy and endless affection! With their soft fur, wiggly tails, and love for snuggles, they’re sure to melt your heart the moment you meet them.

Their beautiful markings and growing paws hint that they’ll be large-sized dogs once fully grown. Their mom is a sweet Shepherd/Hound mix, and while dad’s breed is a mystery, one thing’s for sure — these pups got the best of both worlds!
