After 10 years behind the chair, working almost every Saturday to build my clientele, this year I decided to work only 1 or 2 Saturdays a month to have some time with friends and family and of course, “call the hogs.” I appreciate the understanding and support from my clients to do so.
Today, I spent my Saturday behind a different chair.
The Ronald McDonald House is such a fantastic program that provides a home away from home for families of critically ill children being treated at local hospitals. These families can spend weeks at this beautiful facility and no one is ever turned away because of inability to pay.
As soon as I walked in, I was met with warmth. Upon leaving, I had an intense feeling of gratitude, humbleness, and perspective. I met beautiful mothers whose every waking thought revolves around taking their babies home, and the last thing on their mind is a hair cut. After chatting, styling, a few tears, and a few laughs, these families left my (very cute) salon for the day, with an extra boost of confidence and positivity. Who doesn’t just walk a little different with a cute new ‘do?!
I urge any of my stylist friends to volunteer their time to this organization. You may be the one giving out free haircuts, but I assure you, you will have gained so much more. 💛❤️
