Soma Animal Clinic and Housecalls is hiring for a veterinary assistant or technician, must be able to cross train to also work reception.
● Full time- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 7:30am-5:30pm, 1-2 hour house calls outside of regular hours may be requested. No boarding, overnight or weekend hospitalization.
● Full time benefits include- health insurance, vision, dental, PTO, and employee discount.
● Starts at 16/hr depending on experience.
● Experience in the veterinary field or related animal fields is strongly preferred. Customer service experience required.
● Job duties include but are not limited to- assisting doctors and coworkers with appointments, patient care and restraint, medication and treatment administration, assisting with procedures, labs, and surgeries, helping maintain cleanliness and organization of hospital and equipment, client education and communication, helping maintain medical records. Additional reception duties may include helping answer phone calls, schedule appointments, check out clients, and helping keep appointments moving throughout the day.
● Physical Demands- The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for periods up to 8 hours at a time. The employee is frequently required to walk, reach with hands and arms, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb. Must be able to tolerate loud noises and strong, unpleasant odors, handling of (animal) bodily fluids.
● Although this job is centered around animal care, it is essential that any member of our team has strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially in times of stress. In our field of work, we are helping our clients and patients through their best days and their worst. It is important that any potential team member shares compassion for animals and humans alike.

Update!!!! Dog was found!!!! What a great reunion (see updated photo below!)
This pup’s name is Opal and she is lost!
The car she was in was stolen outside of Loblolly yesterday around 4pm. Her mom is less worried about the car and hopes to find Opal somewhere safe. They are from out of town and so Opal is not familiar with Little Rock if she was dumped somewhere.

We will be Open Wednesday and Friday but closed Thursday for July 4.

These sweet pups are all looking for their forever homes. They come fully vaccinated and spayed/neutered. They are all here being spayed and neutered with us today and they are wonderfully behaved in a kennel and all so sweet! They are 4 months old and all between 30-40lbs. If you are looking for a new family member and are interested in meeting these guys let us know and please share with anyone who may be interested!

A simple head cold has resulted in numerous ulcers and esophagitis that has made it hard and incredibly painful to eat for more than 5 days now.
I’m starting a new medication and already feeling better, so I wanted to apologize for my absence. I expect to be back Friday.
Quick shout out to Drip Spartan IV who met me at the clinic to give me IV fluids and vitamins so I can heal faster.

“Ella is a 5 year old mixed herding dog. She’s incredibly smart and loves nothing more than to follow you around the house and help you with every task. She has the silliest personality and will make you laugh all the time. She’s been through a 2 month board and train program with her sister to learn how to be the best dog she can be, unfortunately her and her sister have aggressive tendencies toward each other that we haven’t been able to resolve the last 4 years. Training was our last option, and unfortunately we’re having to make the heartbreaking decision to separate the dogs for their safety.
While she does get along with other dogs, she would have the most success in an ONLY DOG HOUSEHOLD.
I’m happy to schedule a meet and greet, offer a trial to see if she fits your lifestyle, and offer no commitment if she does not work for your home. I can also offer a reference from her trainer if you’d like learn more about her from an unbiased party. I truly want to find her the absolute best home for her in this tough situation.

PLEASE SHARE- FELLOW SOMA BUSINESSES BE ON THE LOOK OUT! This afternoon between 3:52 and 3:58pm a male in black hoodie and red pants and 1-2 friends in a black Toyota Camry with silver trim (pictured here) scoped out some cars in our parking lot (driving back and forth several times) and broke a client’s car window to steal valuables when the opportunity presented itself. When they left they headed west towards Main Street. We have also posted pictures. This person did not make a sound, and all of this was over in less than 10 minutes. The client that was targeted was elderly, and has devoted much of her life to charity, and was here taking care of a foster kitten. It is so sad when these things happen to the nicest people. We would love it if we could get these guys caught for her so maybe she can recover some of her things. A police report has been filed but if you are in the area and have any information or cameras you can check please let us know- if not please share so that others who might have seen something will know to reach out. Thank you.

Our clinic kitty Neko does not like the cold.
We fell in love with this sweet soul today.❤️ He was so so tired and hurting but still managed the littlest tail wags for us and was a good boy for his extensive work up. He’s a young guy, maybe only a year or two but he’s clearly been through some things. We think he may have been hit by a car or attacked by another animal. We do not know how long he’s been on his own. He is with Rock City Rescue now and needs a foster who will see him through his wounds healing and then heartworm treatment. He is in a temporary foster currently. If you have questions or are interested in fostering or even donating towards his care, please contact us or Rock City Rescue.
