Here are some tips for keeping your dog safe on the 4th of July
- Desensitize your dog to loud noises by exposing them to firework sounds in a controlled environment.
- Identify your dog's stress signals and provide comfort when needed.
- Ensure your dog's identification tags and microchip information are up to date.
- Keep your dog inside in a safe space, away from doors and windows.
- Secure your doors and windows to prevent escape.
- Keep your dog on a leash when outside, even in your own backyard.
- Keep curious dogs away from fire and debris.
- Check your yard for fireworks debris before letting your dog outside.
Also, if you are in Douglas County and witness the use of illegal fireworks you may use the numbers below. Remember: you must have the address of where they are being launched not just the area.
