Hello loyal followers! We are so sorry for the unexpected hiatus, but Bert and Irina have been dealing with multiple health issues unfortunately and we had to take a pause. We are back, at least on a limited basis for a while! We might not do one a week, but we will keep them up as we are able! Onto … Peer Pressure!

We all get annoyed by that term “peer pressure” - kind of hearkens back to those days when well meaning but naive warned us about others. And we all use it a bit don’t we - ever said “Everyone’s doing it!”?��Same thing with dogs. That is why group classes are so important. Dogs do kind of want to do it like everyone else, like all the other dogs. They are social animals at heart and want to please. Good training is based on good relationship. As this comic shows, dogs want to be like other dogs and dogs learn from other dogs. Just a little peer pressure!

#8 - Play, Play, Play, Work!

Scent dogs save lives! It’s true. Here is Rising Son (based on a real dog) breaking play to alert to an individual with Type I Diabetes. Yes, scent dogs CAN alert to this level of accuracy (and sometimes 30 minutes or more in advance!). Many of Binh An’s Buddies alert to not only diabetes, but also seizures (epileptic and non-epileptic), food allergies, blood sugar levels, and much more! Some dogs can alert to cancer or COVID! They come out of playing (or even a dead nap or sleep) to alert!�� … (Irena)

Here’s #7! Sorry it’s a day late! But this pokes fun at ourselves as dog owners a bit! When our dogs are adorable little puppies, we forget they grow up to become full size dogs! But they don’t know that so they keep doing the same things! And sometimes with hilarious … and annoying consequences!

We need to make sure we’re teaching them good habits, socializing, and boundaries while also cuddling and having fun with them all the time!

Just like people, when dogs learn new skills it can be kind of scary and hard. But if we challenge dogs in more difficult tasks, they build confidence, so those first tasks that seem so hard aren't actually that hard at all! That's how we teach dogs to do more advanced work! It's all about confidence! Kind of just like people!
