Hello Everyone - Matt Christiansen here! We are raising funds for Mr. Big Chungus to have palate surgery with possible nares and entropian surgery. We have to take a road trip and make a day out of it as well and Edvard is demanding a purée McDonalds Double Cheeseburger when he's done! He also says he appreciates anyone who can help him breathe better cause he likes going everywhere with dad!

If you’re thinking about making your home Smart, read this story. This is real, especially since the smart plugs are plugs you plug into a dumb outlet. Creates a never ending dog whistle in the house. If you want to make your dumb house smart, switch out the outlets entirely.

PSA: We adopted our dog, Rowdy, from the shelter 5 years ago. He was already an adult dog, so we estimate he is about 11 or 12 years old at this point. I love this dog. He is the sweetest soul and my BFF. For the past week or so he hasn’t been acting like himself. He licked a raw spot on his foot. He was panting constantly. He was pacing. Sunday morning, the pacing and panting got so bad, and I was REALLY nervous that there was something seriously wrong with him. For 45 minutes, he panted like crazy and constantly paced back and forth. He was keeping his tail tucked down all the time. His ears were pinned back. He would not settle down and he wouldn’t eat. We tried everything. I ended up giving him a trazadone that he takes sometimes when he goes to the groomer. It seemed to take a little bit of the edge off, but not much. He still wouldn’t eat and still wouldn’t settle. I took off work on Monday so I could take him to the vet. We did bloodwork and x-rays. Knowing he is a senior dog, I was trying to prepare myself for the worst case scenario. I was glad to see his bloodwork was great except for some elevated liver enzymes. The x-rays showed he was a little backed up but no major issues. He got an anti-nausea injection and some Gabapentin to help with some tenderness in his back and to hopefully help keep him calm. When we got home, he was ok for a little bit, but eventually started pacing and panting again. We walked around the neighborhood for a long time and he used the bathroom a lot. He seemed pretty happy about that and was in good spirits until we got home and he refused to come back in the house. Every time I took him out that evening, he would hunker down like he didn’t want to come back in the house. When my vet called and I gave her the update, she suggested there may be some new electronic device in the house that was emitting a high frequency noise that is hurting his ears. We had just put new smart outlets in the house about a week ago. His pacing and panting were worse when the lamps were on, so I unplugged all the smart outlets. He stopped panting, stopped pacing, and ate his food. His tail was even up and wagging again. When I plugged the smart outlets all back in and asked Alexa to turn on the lamps, he immediately started panting and pacing again. My husband used an app to test the frequency of the smart outlets. It was off the charts. We've left the outlets unplugged for two days and have confirmed that it is definitely the smart outlets that are causing his stress and discomfort. He's back to being a totally normal dog now. I really thought this was the end for Rowdy based on the way he was acting. I am so thankful for Dr. Newell at BoonesCreek AnimalHospital for figuring out this simple solution. If your pets are exhibiting similar symptoms, you may want to consider checking your electronics first. I cannot express how relieved I am that he is ok now. 😭♥️🐶

Hello everyone! I’m posting this on behalf of the current owner! We are trying to place this sweet boy in a new home! You can read about him below and check out his IG! If you’re interested please reach out to me. We will help transport and get him to his new home! We are at capacity and need to find this guy a home quickly! You can reach out to me or Emily on our personal pages as well!

Sailor the bulldog is needing a new family. All in all, a loving low maintenance member of the family. However, his parents are moving to a sailboat and cannot take him with them on their journey. And hence, they are in search of a new family to love on this handsome fella. It breaks their hearts, but a re-home is the only option as other family members are unable to adopt due to their own constraints and restrictions.
Sailor is the bulldog that all other bulldogs wish they could be. At ten years of age, he is as spry as he was at three (for about 15 minutes a day). He is a lean mean loving machine. Most likely, his superb health is due to his leanness and the oodles of love this canine receives at home. He has a personality for at least every day of the week. And, when you pay close attention, you and he will have a conversation…you with your sweet words and he with his many expressions. And yes, he can be moody at times, but can’t we all? Anytime there is more than one person in a room, he has to join right in...because after all it must be a conference and he won’t be left out.
You could set your watch to his habits…rises every morning at 7:00 with his mama, proceeds to ti**le in the pine straw (not the grass), eats a healthy breakfast with an added chocolate (glucosamine) drop for joint health and fish oil for his gleaming mane, goes outside to potty again, plays for a spell, then goes back to sleep. The same routine happens at about 6:00 for dinner. He likes his hind quarters scratched and doesn’t like fireworks, storms. or loud power tools (he tolerates the power tools, just does not like them).
Sailor is has been neutered, up to date with shots, heart and flea meds, and annual blood work. Sailor is currently taking Rimadyl for some recent concerns with arthritis in his back legs. He still likes to play and go for walks.
We simply want him to find a new home that cares for him as we do…and provide him the love, attention, and time that he deserves, and we will not be able to provide. Thank you for considering making Sailor a member of your family.

While we are full at the moment, a week ago we were asked to look into a puppy that needed a rescue or rehome so I looked up everything and the baby was only a half hour away or so from us. After hearing the story and getting all the details we decided to bring her into the rescue and at least rehab her. She was very shy and timid for maybe 2 days but then opened to us and the rest of the dogs in the rescue.

Due to her age, story, history and so on we are going to keep her in sanctuary in the rescue. She is 5/6 years old, spayed, but is underweight and came to us with a lot of dry patches and missing skin. We were told it was from the food she was eating.

We gave her a good oatmeal and baking soda bath, got her nice and dry and then treated the spots with medicated spray/ointments. Her skin is much much better a week later and she’s put on some weight!

Her name when she came to us was Tinkerbell or Tink but since being with us she has developed such nicknames as, Flower, Petunia, and Magnolia…. Oh and Stinkerbell 🤣😂

She came with her blanky and a toy but has since been enjoying playing her friends and the toys we have around the house!

Hello everyone! I hope everyone is okay after Hurricane Idalia!

Lana’s League will be suspending all Rescue activities and services until further notice. This includes;

- Pulling dogs from shelters or rescuing.

- Assisting with pulling dogs for fosters and others who want to adopt.

- Transportation assistance and service.

Hurricane Idalia was catastrophic and we were right in the direct path. We are left without power and water with no idea when it will be back. Our farm took substantial damage. The goat house and sheep house is demolished, three chicken coops demolished, and a shed. Tons of giant oak trees and limbs down on the property. A small piece of the roof blew off but a neighbor will repair it for us out of the kindness of his heart! Oh, and the building that’s used for the rescue, the wind blew it 5 feet off its foundation and I will need to hire someone to come move back and anchor it down now…..

I had to take the bulldogs to my best friends house 2 hours south of us where there is normalcy, power, AC, and water for their safety. Once we have power and we return home I will let everyone know as we resume.

What a day for rescue… We just got this email! This is so awesome! We applied a while ago so we could rescue/medical pull from Palm Beach County since we still travel down there! Partner Approved! We’ll be watching the urgent rescues and dogs in the shelter but probably still won’t expand until we get our facility finished for them. The GoFundMe is still live and all donations are appreciated!

Today we had to say good bye to Old Mac, Mr Mac. Sadly, he passed away in his sleep last night. He was very peaceful and something told me last night to let him sleep wherever he wants instead of putting him in his crate. He fell asleep under my desk where he usually chills during the day. If you remember, we rescued Mac about 7 months ago from a shelter in Georgia. He was found abandoned in a carport. He was brought into the shelter and vetted and neutered, his age was unknown but estimated to be between 11-15 years old. He was blind and possibly suffered doggy dementia. His neutering was botched as they left the scrotom on and we had to have an emergency scrotal ablation done to kill and fight the infection that prevented him from walking. He lived the last 7 months very peacefully and happy as an old man in the rescue. He gained lots of weight as this morning when I had to carry him he was a chunker. As sad as it is, I am glad he went peacefully in his sleep and didnt suffer or endure any pain. Mr. Mac, old man. We love you and know you are up there with Lana, Mrs. Burgz, and the honorary bulldog Gideon! R.I.P buddy I miss you already!

Rescue is already very hard. Especially if you have seniors, dogs with medical issues, feeding, cleaning, taking care of them in general. When you have dogs in sanctuary it’s even harder……. We have three and now we’re down to 2.

Having to put these dogs down that you rescue from all these crazy different situations, you get attached because when they are in Sanctuary they are with you to stay…..

We had to make the sad decision to say goodbye to Mrs Burgleson today; our little hospice patient we took in back in October. She had a huge tumor in her abdomen, and there was nothing that could be done for her because she was so old and fragile. She had already been through so much. Adrienne and Emily took her to the Dr on Wednesday, but yesterday she got worse and refused to eat anything. Today, we all said goodbye and me and Adrienne took her back in. I know she was tired and ready. She went to sleep very, very peacefully with me and Adrienne with her. We're all thankful for the time we got to know and love her, and super thankful that she went very peacefully.

Mrs Nala Ann Burgleson, thank you for a very sweet 6 months. I hope you had a wonderful life with us, and I hope you felt as loved as you have been ❤️

Mr. Bubbs is back to his old self. He’s breathing a lot better. Aside from the muscle relaxer to help with pain and keeping his heart relaxed we are still giving him lasix until further notice. He’s back to hopping around and trying to act like a 10 year old puppy. He’s spending time outside sunbathing again. He enjoys it more and more knowing he has the option to go outside and come in as he pleases instead of living outside with parasites!

The before rescue pics are taken by someone who helped rescue him and worked with us to get him to us for his permanent home for sanctuary and to live out the rest of his life!

Update on Mr. Bubba!

The vet called this morning and asked if we wanted to get Bubbs today instead of tomorrow because he was panting really bad and they thought it was because he was uncomfortable. So I said, “of course!” And I went and got him. He was really panting and he was in pain, you could tell, I was very nervous and upset on the ride home. We pull into the yard and he immediately knows he’s at home. He tried to jump out of the truck but I got him and lowered him down and let him walk around a bit he was a little calmer but still panting. I carried him in and put him in his room (our room) and let him relax. He said some water and went right to his spot in the room and laid and went to bed. He’s been snoring all day and at peace. He’s in his home and his space resting. He’s fine, these two injections back to back were hard on him but he’s a super resilient old man! He will be fine! He’s done with the heart worm treatment! In a month we go for the heart worm test and get him on a preventive!

Mr. Bubbs appointment was rescheduled for Monday because he needs to stay over night twice to have the injection site checked. This is the final two injections for the aggressive fast kill heart worm treatment. After this he will go on a preventative like normal and be checked for heart worm exactly one year from the first injection!

Let’s take minute to look back at Bubba’s life! When he came to us he was 39lbs and around 9.5 years old. He had every parasite known to man and dog including heartworm! We got him vaccinated for the first time ever and got him treated for all the worms! He was doing slow kill heart worm treatment but he started experiencing symptoms of CHF so we rushed him to the vet and then a specialist in cardiovascular specialist vet in Gainesville where they checked him out thoroughly, the heart worms were swimming in his pulmonary artery but hadn’t moved and this was causing false positive CHF. He went on lasiks therapy as a precaution and was removed from all other CHF meds and began the process of the fast kill aggressive heart worm treatments. He did very well after the first one, aside from the remaining heart worms, he’s fully vetted and vaccinated and has no more parasites! Mr. Bubbs turned 10 years old with us and he’s living his puppy years all over. He loves to stomp around with his front paws and play, he tries to jump and be silly and he does big chomps on your forearm and shins with his soup teeth! Oh yea and he’s 50lbs now or a little more and has to borrow his sisters harness, Pickles!

Even though his appointment was rescheduled he sure did love the ride in the truck!

Hey Everyone! Mr. Bubba is going in for his next heart worm treatment in a week! we are excited because it will mean those pesky little worms are gone!

The rescue is looking for food donations! Imagine having 2+ boy teenage children and trying to feed them, now multiply that by 1000 and you’re feeding 6 bulldogs!

Half of these guys are in sanctuary and the other half have skin and belly issues so they require special food! As everyone knows, this rescue is funded 100% by those running it and we only reach out for donations when these guys can really use the help!

Here is the food we require for the rescue! This is from our list on Amazon Smile. If you wish to donate and purchase it outside of Amazon you will need the rescues address so can reach out for the info! Thank you!

Last one for the day and still waiting on some medical for her. She’s an American Blue Healer mix and she’s very pretty! she’s been vetted but some things are still pending! She will be available for adoption soon once all testing is done! Like the other two she is looking to get out of the kennel and into a home where she can play and be loved!

If you’re interested please contact me to make arrangements!

Next up is ”Sylvie”. Sylvie is a sweet old lady who just wants a place on the couch to cuddle up with a human and relax. She also enjoys exploring! She does have arthritis in her hip and she takes gabapetin as needed when it’s bad and daily supplements for joint and hip care. She moves around without issue, I even seen her climb ontop of a kennel to show off!

Sylvie is also fully better! She’s also considered a senior but has plenty of life to give and would love to share it with humans all of kinds! If interested please reach out to me!

Hello Everyone! Got some big news here! We are working with the county animal control shelter to help rehome dogs in their care! We will be posting dogs with profiles to help rehome and we will be helping transport dogs to new homes/rescues/doctor’s appointments as needed! Remember a non-profit rescue is all volunteer work and funded solely on the incomes of those running it. Our donation link is always up!

The first dog we have up is “Casper”. He’s a big boy! He’s a an all white American bulldog mix. He had been fully vetted and I have included the records with a picture of him. If you’re interested please reach out to me and we can organize something. The adopter can be located anywhere.

Casper is sweet and misunderstood. He needs a ”person”. Like we need dogs to be our companions he needs a human to be his. He needs someone to give him time and patience and he will be your best friend through and through. You can see in his character that he will be a perfect loyal friend to anyone with the heart and time for him!

Update on Sir Bubbs. Ambassador of Lana’s League. He had his first heart worm treatment injection on the 12/28. He’s doing very good. We are keeping him isolated from the other dogs. He may have just turned 10, had his first birthday, his first Christmas, watched his team win the Sugar Bowl (he’s from Alabama, it’s okay that we are a UGA house), and had his first NYE experience, but he’s still very much a puppy, full of life and love. He’s doing all the things he missed out on for 9.5 years of his life! He’s been with us for over 3 months now. Whenever one of us or all of us leave the house no matter for how long, when we get home he’s super excited and jumping around, pawing, and doing play bites.

We love him so so much and this decision was very hard and we are very fortunate for everything and that we are able to help him and have him finally enjoy life! We are happy to see him being him and walking around the yard taking his time.

Chung Chung (AKA Edvard or Big Chungus) was so excited today! He’s been patiently waiting for daddy to take him for a ride in his new truck. Seriously though, he’s been running to my truck everyday for a ride and I had to tell him, “soon Mr. Chung”. Well, today was the day and we took a ride to the Dump!

His face tells a million stories!

Update: Just got off the phone with the Vet and Bubbs is doing good. She said he was in a lot of pain right after the shot and they gave him something for the pain. His vitals have been stable and he’s curled up snoring and sleeping. If everything stays on track and there’s no swelling at the injection site he will come home at 10am tomorrow!

Edit: Adding donation information to post at the bottom.

Mr. Bubbs was dropped off this morning for Phase 1 of his heartworm treatment. Everyone please send prayers and tons of love! It’s only a shot and 24 hour observation with other meds, but it’s very scary, much scarier than him going under for a procedure. During this phase the adult worms will be killed and his body will reabsorb them. He has to be on extreme bed rest for a period of time after this or it can be bad for him.

The journey of Bubba….

We rescued Bubba 3 months ago from Alabama, he was said to be 9 years old and lived a pretty rough life, spending all his days and nights outside. He was riddled with parasites and HW positive when we got him. The heart worm was treated a bit differently in a slower method that’s safer but does not yield the same results. About a month ago he began having breathing problems. I took him to his vet for a check up and it appeared he was in heart failure so we treated that and then followed up with a vet cardiologist at a specialty center in Gainesville.

This vet gave us great news but said we needed to do the more aggressive treatment based on the Heart worm association in order to truly help bubs. The adult worms were sitting at the entrance to his heart from the pulmonary artery. We started all the preliminary treatments to get ready for today which included a strong antiobiotic.

Bubba made it to 10 years old this month and celebrated his first real Christmas with a family of humans and other bulldogs who were rescued like him! He has a wonderful and joyous life, full of love, warmth, food, and ”Bubs burgers”! We made sure he had a big dinner and plenty of bubs burgers treats before he went off this morning.

He is in very good hands and will be okay but it’s still nerve wrecking and scary and I’m going to worry about him until I get the updates and pick him up tomorrow morning.

This was a very hard decision to make because we could have left him and he’d have the breathing issues and who knows how much longer until the worms did more damage that we couldn’t reverse because we have no idea how long he’s been living with them. We do the process and he comes out okay and lives a few more years and gets to continue to enjoy what life really is. It’s killing both of us but we think we made the right decision for him regardless of the risk.

Please add him in any prayers you do today or tonight and keep him in your thoughts! We will keep everyone updated through the process!
