Routine physical exams are great for checking your pet’s heart, lungs, eyes, and ears, but what about their internal health?

Annual blood panels help us assess internal health including liver and kidney function, metabolic disease, and blood counts. Diagnostic tests provide valuable insight into changes in their health over time and allow us to identify illnesses early which can lead to faster treatment and often a better prognosis

💉 Schedule your pet’s wellness exam with us so we can run blood panels and help keep your pet healthy as can be!

With the holiday season in full effect, we know that there may be treats on your pet’s wish list. We also know that you are likely tired of the toothbrushing battle. Which is why we recommend dental treats!
Dental treats are a great way to reduce the severity of periodontal disease.

We urge our pet parents to look for the VOHC Seal of Acceptance and to avoid hard treats such as synthetic or natural bones.

The holiday season is now in full swing, which brings excitement, but for male cats, it can also bring extra stress—and with it, a higher risk of Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD).

If your cat seems to be urinating more frequently, straining, or showing signs of discomfort, it could be a sign of FLUTD.

Simple steps like creating a quiet, cozy space or using pheromone sprays, can help reduce stress.

Our clinic is here to help! We can provide a thorough review of your cat’s health and offer guidance on environmental changes to keep them calm. Contact us today!

Meet Dr. Karin Connor! She will be joining our Team Friday December 6th. For now she will only be seeing patients at our location on Fridays. (She will also be working at our sister location in Lathrop on Mondays & Wednesdays) Read her Bio to learn more below.

Growing up in Livermore, California, Dr. Karin Connor always knew she wanted to become a veterinarian like her grandfather. After high school she did her undergraduate courses at UC Berkeley before doing a year abroad at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. She was offered a position for the following year at The University of Glasgow’s School of Veterinary Medicine and accepted.

After six years living in Scotland, she and her husband moved back to Livermore where she lives with her children and 8 pets. In her spare time she enjoys reading, spending time with her family and travel- exploring California and internationally.

In her 17 years of being a veterinarian Dr. Karin Connor has worked as a family general practitioner and she has also spent time working in urgent care and providing in-home euthanasia. She continues to feel passionate about providing a peaceful experience for her end of life appointments and also feels lucky to be able to provide whole life care.

Dr. Connor truly enjoys meeting and interacting with her patients and their families and aims to be a partner with families to help care for their furry family at all stages- from the joyful, rambunctious kitten and puppy appointments, to caring and kind geriatric and end of life care. Dr. Connor is excited to be part of the Arroyo Veterinary Center family!

🦠Leptospirosis is an infection of Lepto bacteria. Found in the urine of infected mice, rats, racoons, skunks and possums, this bacteria gets excreted into the environment.

Dogs are most often infected by drinking from a contaminated water source. The bacteria then targets the liver and kidneys, leading to serious illness and sometimes death.

You can prevent infection with an annual lepto vaccine and booster, good for dogs over 12 weeks old.

Help us spread awareness on the importance of the lepto vaccine by sharing this post!

Does your pet have a beautiful face like our friend here? Keep reading (and drop a photo in the comments)!

Deep wrinkles often trap moisture causing yeast to thrive. If left untreated, their skin can get inflamed and infected. This is called skin fold dermatitis.
Symptoms may include redness and inflammation, itching, odor, skin discoloration, and skin lesions.

Regularly cleaning and drying their folds with vet-approved cleanser can go a long way! Our team can discuss more options to help your squishy-faced friend remain looking and feeling beautiful! Give us a call.
