Congratulations to DNAA CEO Monu Chhetri and all the graduates of the Leadership Greater Syracuse Class of 2024!
As Mayor Walsh said β€œYou don’t have to know what you want to do for the rest of your life. You just have to know what you want to do next.” These words resonate deeply inspiring and reflecting the beliefs of DNAA. From the beginning our organization has been driven by hope and faith paving the way for a brighter future.

This year we wrap up our farm season and our farming family comes together to celebrate and reflect on the hard work and blessings that made this amazing farm season a success. We had fun together and bonded over the fruits of our labor. It's been a great time and celebration of food and community!! 🌱🌱

Beautiful Night of Art and Community! We had an amazing time painting our farm Asha Laaya with our community. The night was filled with creativity, laughter and connection as we captured the beauty of a place that means so much to us. A huge thank you to our interpreters Mae and Alexis and to the talented artist Marlea for making this evening extra special and accessible for everyone. Your support truly brought us closer together. This experience reminded us of the strength of our community and the shared bond we have with this land and with each other. πŸŒ±πŸ’š

The SOFSA 2nd Annual Food Justice Gathering was inspiring. The keynote speaker's presentation resonated deeply with Asha Laaya's journey highlighting the challenges of setting up a small one acre farm with costs often exceeding fifty thousand dollars for established. We are grateful for our tireless leadership team's initial efforts relying on personal funds to establish Asha Laaya and eventually securing local and federal funding. Despite facing challenges and moments of near despair hope and positivity Asha Laaya is now thriving thanks to the dedication and hard work of all involved. Thanks to SOFSA for food Justice fund support to Asha Laaya !!

A very important project for Asha Laaya farm is to help empower the Deaf Community in the Beldangi Refugee Camp in Jhapa, Nepal. There are Deaf individuals who were not able to resettle and live permanently in camp. We want to provide them with the opportunity to develop farming skills that we hope will lead to self-reliance and leadership through agricultural production. Special thanks to all the supporters: our very own farm manager Jay Regmi, National Federation of the Deaf Nepal Security Sita Ram Ojha, National Association of Sign Language Interpreter Nepal Dinesh Shrestha and Santoshi Ghimire, and our camp Deaf leader Mangal Singh. We are hopeful this project is planting the seeds that lead to growth and thriving!
