 look no further!!!đŸ‘€đŸš«

Nala is a beautiful 8.5 year old Pit Bull mix who is looking to be queen of the house, just what her name means in Swahili!👑

Despite wanting to be the only animal, there is no need to fret because she will provide all of the love and snuggles you’ll ever need!đŸ„° She’s getting quite lonely at the shelter and would really love a warm bed to sleep the days away in!

Nala really is the perfect dog for a quiet, low key home, or people who just want a lazy, affectionate dog! She’s been waiting 126 days and it’s about time she finds a home she deserves!

Please contact us or stop in if you’d like to meet Nala or our many other dogs!

Just one week in to 2025 and we have a LOT going on. It has been a crazy week and we would not have been able to make it all happen without our INCREDIBLE fosters.

As you know we have our Parvo pups. All four puppies ended up with Parvo thus all four needed to be hospitalized. After a few days in the hospital, they are all safely recovering in a foster home.

Then, we have a little 1 year old Beagle Mix, Sweetart, who arrived very pregnant. We found her a foster home right away and yesterday she gave birth to NINE puppies! All the babies are healthy and mama is taking care of them well.

Lastly we have sweet 2 year old Ellie, a Beagle who was hit by a car. She has significant lacerations that require daily bandage changes, medications, and trips to the vet. Ellie is in good spirits but requires a lengthy recovery before she’s ready to be adopted.

If anyone would like to send a donation towards the care of any of these animals, please do so on our website with the animals’ name in the note section. humanecny.org/donate-now

Please note - as much as we want these babies to head to forever homes right away, they are not ready for adoption yet. We will let you know when we’ll be taking applications and doing meet and greets for everyone you see here!

Are you looking for a sweet treat that won’t set back your New Year’s Resolutions? Then Reese is the girl for you! Reese is a two month old long hair tabby who was found under a shed. She has been in foster learning to trust humans while also learning how to be a kitten. She will need some time to warm up to her new home as she is still shy. She loves to play with wand toys and enjoys having her fur brushed daily!
If you are interested in adopting Reese, please submit your adoption application on our website. We will then reach out to set up a meet and greet with the foster.

An update on our two Parvo pups - they were discharged from the hospital and are healing in seperate foster homes (pictured here). However, on Wednesday a third pup developed symptoms and tested positive for Parvo. Right now, she is still hospitalized and we are closely monitoring the fourth pup to see if he develops any symptoms.

Please continue to keep these pups in your thoughts. We know that emergency care is costly, but it is warranted and needed in this situation. Our mission is to care for the animals we take in to the best of our ability and that's what we're trying to do. We are appreciative of the hard work that our staff and fosters and the vet staff have put in to care for these pups over the last few days. If you are able, please donate towards their care. And continue to share this post!

745

What’s that number mean, you ask? The amount of animals we adopted out in 2024!

Our hearts are so full seeing that number! Over 700 animals happy and loved in forever homes! Animals that were abused, animals that were fending for themselves on the streets, animals that couldn’t stay with their previous owners.

Every year we strive to find more and more animals homes, so here’s to hoping this year we break 800!

Want to help us with that goal?

The New Years Party wrapped up with ice cream sundaes for the animals, which you can see they thoroughly enjoyed! We finished off the party with a staff photo, featuring our one and only staff mascot, Scrunch!

2025 hasn't even started yet and we are off to a busy, hectic start here at the shelter. We couldn't do it without you all! Thank you for your endless support in 2024! Wishing everyone a safe and healthy new year đŸŸâœš

With 2024 coming to an end, we just wanted to say thank you to everyone that interacts with our kitty posts. In December alone we had over 30 kitties go to their forever homes with our advent calendar. We appreciate your likes and shares! Cheers to 2025 and getting so many more fur babies home!

We can't thank you enough for supporting Figgy and Gingerbread who were recently diagnosed with Parvo! The funds you have donated will go directly toward their care and healing.

They are both hanging in there but haven't turned the corner just yet, and are still on fluids etc,. In addition to your monetary support, the shelter can also really use bleach and dryer sheets right now to help with cleaning. While all adult dogs at the shelter are fully vaccinated, Parvo is contagious so sanitization is really important.

If you would like, you can drop off supplies right at our door, or shop using our Amazon Gift List linked here: https://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/165YP9KWETQUB?ref_=PET_SHE_CNY_PGL

We have some unfortunate news to share. Sadly two of the puppies we recently took in have now been diagnosed with Parvo. For young pups, Parvo can be extremely devastating. Thankfully, we caught Figgy and Gingerbread’s symptoms with enough time to get them to the emergency vet. The two puppies are currently being treated for Parvo and this treatment could exceed $15,000...

We are closely monitoring the others but in the meantime we could really use your help to afford this costly care. Please share this post and donate here or on our website if you are able! We will provide updates as soon as we have some for you.
