After a long 532 days from taking in this boy in the rescue, he has finally been adopted (although he remained with his mom-to-be that whole time) he was officially released from Critter Crusaders of Cedar Rapids care last week!! When we brought Buddy into the rescue you can see he had quite the crooked leg! With the help of CC and some amazing surgeons, his leg is so much more functional for him!! We are so thankful for Critter Crusaders and all their help getting Buddy back on track to being a normal functioning dog!! Happy tails Buddy! 🐾

💕Sloane UPDATE💕

You are so loved already, by the whole ETHAP team!! She is in the best hands at Houston Mobile Veterinary Surgery and will be getting some more testing done this morning including a urethrogram and further evaluation then move onto surgery. We will update as soon as we hear from the surgery team. Thank you SO MUCH to our donors who made this possible, we still have a bit to go, if you’d like to donate towards Sloane’s care we would be forever grateful and she deserves all the help she can get! 💔 These sweet faces deserve a second chance, they have so much love left to give—but they’re on the EU list at the local pound in Texas, facing their FINAL DAY on November 21st 🥺

🐾We can’t let them lose this fight. ETHAP is currently organizing our next transport to Iowa on November 14th, and we desperately need help from both Iowa and Texas fosters to get these pups into safe, loving homes. Any heartworm negative dog could go on our upcoming transport to an Iowa foster. I’m Any heartworm positive dog would preferably find a local Texas foster due to pricing of treatment in the 2 states. Unfortunately, without your help, we’re out of options.

We know the holidays are coming up and y’all may have family coming into town or trips planned but imagine their joy spending the holidays with a warm bed, and a chance to find family to call their own. All we can do is attempt to make it happen—but only if we act soon!!

‼️‼️Sloane update‼️‼️
Our girl needs your help now more than ever!! We thought she was out of the woods as far as anything major internally, however in the night last night the fluid in her abdomen became increased, the vet at Vergi had placed a catheter to drain her bladder and then inject dye into the bladder so they could scan her and watch for a possible leak in the bladder (urine would be the likely fluid in her abdomen if so) What caused this you may wonder?! They weren’t sure if it is a bullet fragment floating around in there afterall or maybe a piece of bone fragment from the fractured pelvis 🥺

What was found was actually not a tear in the bladder but in an even more significant location, her urethra. This would require surgical repair that cannot be done at the current hospital she’s at. Over the last few hours we’ve been wracking our brains on what the right decision is, this isn’t a cheap surgery, and the vet did say euthanasia wouldn’t be the wrong choice but we feel (and hope) this girl is a fighter!! We have helped her thus far and we aren’t ready to give up yet. 💕

Sloane will be staying one more night at Vergi and then be transferred tomorrow morning to Dr. McFadden at Houston Mobile Veterinary Surgery which is a slight change of plans from what we were going to do just an hour ago! We love our friends at HMVS and we were so thrilled to hear back from them this evening and they can see Sloane first thing tomorrow morning.

🙏Thankful Thursday goes to these two!!🙏

Find yourself a foster (and friend) that will drop what they’re doing to transport a dog from one ER to another specialty clinic!! We are so thankful for everyone who helps us in these animals journeys.

One more 💕Sloane 💕update before going to bed…

Staff at Vergi 24/7called us a little bit ago to say Sloane was resting comfortably, she does get a little flustered when being moved (due to pain or discomfort of course) so they’re monitoring her meds and keeping overnight again. She still will not bear weight on one of her back legs, they are hoping with more rest and pain management she will be able to stand soon.

She lacks appetite right now as well but did eat a little dinner a 5pm, baby steps!! 🙏🙏

They did call again to say when they did a repeat ultrasound, they saw a little build up of fluid and may do a catheter sometime overnight to be sure it’s not coming from the bladder, so fingers crossed 🤞 that it’s nothing serious!!

Goodnight for now, we’re all exhausted - hoping to have Sloane resting comfortably on a doggy bed soon. Her estimate so far is almost $3000 (that was without adding staying over tonight as well) if you’re in a position to donate even just $5 towards her care, we deeply appreciate it and so does Sloane!! 💪💕
