Just so help with you guys out there with the question of why are Breeders saying that European standard is in correct or they are byb. So if you do some research The Dane is German in origin, not Danish. The breed is thought to have been around for more than 400 years. Great Danes descend from mastiff-like dogs that were bred by German nobility to protect country estates and hunt wild boar. In the 18th century, Great Danes were prestigious guardians of estates and carriages. With that being said you have 2 standards. Akc (american) FCI (EUROPEAN) I DO NOT bash on the breeding of either. It's a preference. But if the Dane orgin is from Europe then I'm gonna say they are the truest correct standard and Americans have altered the breed.
