I told my mom that I’m to the point where I’d really like to not miss out on a HRC Grand. Cricket having a litter of puppies threw a wrench into that plan so I was taking her dog Puck to the line. I was lucky enough that she said yes.

Thank you to my mom who has been such an inspiration with Puck the entire time I’ve been training Cricket. This Grand title means something entirely different than Cricket’s this past spring knowing I got to handle the little dog my parents put so much hard work into who inspired me to do what I do today.

Aunt B out of 4xGMPR-TC HRCH UH “Puck” MH and NFC FC NFTCH “Floyd” had a great year, she earned her HRCH and placed 3rd in a derby and received 3 JAMs.

ROUS out of MPR GRHRCH UH “Cricket” and 4xGMPR HRCH “Ace” MH earned her HRCH this fall and her APR title this spring. She also ran a few derbies this year and looking forward to seeing how she does in Qs next year.

We repeated our breeding of GRHRCH MPR “Cricket” and HRCH 4XGMPR “Ace” MH. We are currently accepting deposits.

Both Cricket and Ace have tested in the top levels of AKC, UKC, and APLA. Cricket earned her GRHRCH passing 2/3. She is quiet and steady in the blind and shown to be disciplined on blind retrieves. Ace got his Master Hunter title in 19 days and went 7/7 to achieve his HRCH title. These puppies will make great waterfowl dogs and hunt test dogs.

This litter’s strength will show in the upland field. Ace spends his fall, from October-January guiding hunts in South Dakota for Coteau View Kennels on wild pheasants. Ace’s nose is second to none in the upland field, often pointing birds 40 yards off! Cricket has made trips out to South Dakota and Montana every year since she was 6 months old, finding pheasants, sharptails, and huns.

Puppies from the previous litter are running in HRC, AKC, APLA, and field trials. At 20 months old titles some of the puppies have achieved are two APR titles in APLA, one HRCH, two seasoned titles, and a started title.

Cricket is a 65 lb yellow, pointing Labrador Retriever. Cricket loves training and testing in HRC and APLA during the summer and retrieving ducks and pointing pheasants in the fall and winter. Cricket has a great temperament in the field and also in the house. She has retrieved ducks, geese, pheasants, sharp-tail, and Huns in Michigan, South Dakota, and Montana. Cricket received the High Point Trophy for 2020 from Michigan Hunting Retriever Club earning 125 points throughout the year running regular HRC hunt tests. Cricket achieved her 500 point UKC HRC certificate fall of 2022.

Ace has a steel trap memory on multiple marks and has a beautiful point in the upland. He is out of 4XGMPR GRHRCH Rock Chalk Jayhawk MH "Rock". Ace has 6 of 6 dogs in his two generation pedigree that are GMPR's and five of the six are 4XGMPR titled! He is a very laid back dog in the off time but charges his marks and blinds! He is a great dog that offers a high drive gun dog with a great disposition needed for family time.

We finished up our hunt test season at Ohio HRC. We had a great weekend with some of our closest friends. Tests ran smoothly, awesome bird tech help and great judges.

Another weekend on the road came to an end this morning and this is one I won’t forget.

Thursday afternoon Sarah (best roadtrip and hunt test partner around who put up with a lot of late nights, driving, and filling up water bowls and I can’t thank her enough!) and I headed to Blackhawk Retriever Club to run a derby on Friday before heading over to Wisill Retriever Club to run an HRC test over the weekend.

Aunt B (owned by Matt Beattie) ran a beautiful 4 series in the derby picking up her second JAM in a row and I was lucky to handle her for him. She’s grown so much since running her first derby in May.

Saturday at Wisill we went 6/7 in finished, with all my young dogs passing that titled in seasoned the week before.

Sunday at Wisill we went 7/7 in finished.

As You Wish Crew + 1 finished their last out in South Dakota. Had a blast shooting roosters over this group of dogs. Enjoyed watching the dogs point the few birds that held for them. Can’t wait for our next trip out here in a month!
