Welcoming the “Tea Litter”! Mama Cricket and 7 beautiful black babies are all healthy and happy!

MPR GRHRCH UH Riverswild Jiminy Cricket MH “Cricket” and GRHRCHx5 UHCH Retrievers Retreat Twisted T MH “T” had 4 black males and 3 black females!

We have Twisted T (after his daddy), Chai, Oolong, and Earl Grey for the boys, the girls are Sage, Rose, and Lavender.

We brought together two extremely talented hunting labradors that also excel in the summer games. Kane is a standout in the run and gun game, while Goose runs in the Chukar Challenges put on by Rapid Wings Farm in Hubbard Lake, Michigan.

If you are looking for your next duck dog, upland dog or test dog you will not be disappointed.

As You Wish Retrievers had their first trip to South Dakota this week and it was a fun one.

We ran 7 dogs out here this trip, covering 50 miles of South Dakota public land, coming home with 39 birds for the week.

We had 7 pointing labs, 4 Cricket puppies, one Puck puppy, and two intruders, one I had part in training and one unstoppable machine!

We had lots of wild flushes but I’m happy to say I saw points on wild roosters from each dog and some more than once.

Each dog had highlights of the week.

Oakley chose a new dog handler and hunted with Moose and Andrew the whole week, showing him the ropes for his first time out here. Moose had a solid point on day 3 on a rooster, foot up, tail straight, so much so that his owner was confused on what he was looking at. By day 5 there wasn’t a cattail patch he wouldn’t charge through.

Falco has his first trip out here, it didn’t take him long to figure out the game. He is a very cautious hunter and locked up on a lot of hens and a few roosters. It was Aza first trip as well, Ed was very pleased with him and was more than happy with how he hunted with his other dog, found cripples, and bulldozed through cover.

The star of the show, and I’m definitely biased was Rous. She had to step her game up a lot this week with us leaving “The Nose” (Goose) at home, but she did just that. If her tail started going, 9 out of 10 times a bird was going up. I got to shoot 2 solid pointed roosters over her.

We have a couple puppies out of Goose and a litter out of Cricket coming up, if you want your next SD hunting machine let us know!

Puppies Grandmother is now a 3xGRHRCH dog, passing the grand just last weekend!

As You Wish Retrievers is very excited to announce the confirmed breeding between our female MPR GRHRCH UH Riverswild Jiminy Cricket MH “Cricket” and GRHRCHx5 UHCH Retrievers Retreat Twisted T MH “T” please check out our breeding page at asyouwishretrievers.com.

We are really excited about what this breeding will offer. This is T’s first litter and shortly after he achieved 1,000 points putting him in the HRC HOF and his 5th pass at the HRC Grand at just 4 years old. This will also be Cricket’s last litter. We expect these puppies to excel in the duck blind and the upland field, and perform at any retriever event.

Puppies are due the second week of November and will go home beginning of January. This litter will produce black and yellow puppies. We are currently only accepting a couple more deposits. We will take names of those who are interested in deposits after the litter is born.

Cricket is a 65 lb yellow, pointing Labrador Retriever. Cricket loves training and testing in HRC, APLA, and AKC during the summer and retrieving ducks and pointing pheasants in the fall and winter. Cricket has a great temperament in the field and also in the house. She has retrieved ducks, geese, pheasants, sharp-tail, and Huns in Michigan, South Dakota, and Montana. Cricket received the High Point Trophy for 2020 from Michigan Hunting Retriever Club earning 125 points throughout the year running regular HRC hunt tests. Cricket achieved her 500 point UKC HRC certificate fall of 2022. Cricket attended her first HRC Grand in the fall of 2022 and achieved her first pass, finishing up her Grand title in spring of 2024 going 2/3.

While Cricket is back in Michigan baking puppies I am getting updates on her past litters!

Crew, Moose, and Aza have been running towers, duck and goose hunting, and pointing birds in the field.

Odie and Buck are getting in the grouse woods of Michigan and having success in their first season.

Todd also got out on a towershoot this year, it was a hot one.

Wren is Crickets first puppy to have her own puppies!

Rous is running the grand and going to the second series!

Elsa also out duck hunting for her first season!

Welcome to the As You Wish Retrievers Page! We are a family-owned kennel located in lower Michigan. Our family has raised many waterfowl and upland retrievers that love what they do. As we became “empty-nesters” we decided it was time to get back into the fun and games associated with owning a retriever and got our first pointing lab. We currently have two female pointing labs in our kennel both currently running in APLA, AKC, and HRC hunt tests.

The name “As You Wish Retrievers” comes from a family favorite movie, The Princess Bride. One of the many famous quotes from the movie is “As you wish” that the main character Westley says to the Princess whenever she asks him to do a task. We believe that retrievers take that quote to heart in everything they do, from retrieving ducks on cold winter days to running through thick cattails chasing a rooster.
