Thank you to everyone who came out for our last farm visit at Blue Line Farms. We had some new visitors and some of our OG families. We have loved sharing our little urban farm with so many over the last 4 years. Feeling the emotions of closing down today….Thank you from the bottom of our heart for the support you’ve had for us over the years!

We do have, weather permitting, 2 more goat yoga sessions coming up- tomorrow at 11am and Friday Aug 23 at 6p. 🥰🐐🐷🐔🐣

🚨REMINDERS🚨

Our LAST ever farm visit is tomorrow Aug 17th at 10, 11 and 12. We are tracking the rain 🌧️ and hope the weather cooperates! Farm visits are still a go unless it is severe weather. Emails will go out to everyone signed up for a visit. We do have spots available if anyone wants to still visit and brave the potential rain.

Goat 🐐 yoga 🧘‍♀️ is Sunday Aug 18 at 11am. We are really hoping the rain holds off for yoga as well! We will keep watching. Reminder yoga is not held if actively ☔️ raining. We really really don’t want to cancel so let’s hope the rain cooperates! IF we cancel, we will email everyone signed up and post on the farm page and goat yoga page. We can also if raining turn yoga into a farm visit instead of yoga if those signed up were interested in that.

We are super bummed it’s going to rain this weekend, but we all know Michigan weather can be unpredictable so you never know! Think dry thoughts!!

🤩Farm Update!🤩

First, we cannot believe the support that we have received from the community in regard to the code violations we received from the city. We were not expecting that at all. I have been waiting until we had everything situated before making a post and with last weeks tragedy in Livonia, also wanted to wait before making any kind of update. This might be a long one but here goes....

In the beginning of the year I started a new job in addition to real estate and now work Mon-Fri as does my husband. My husband and I had discussed stopping farm activities at the end of this summer, but we had not reached a decision yet because we were so torn, we absolutely love the joy our farm brings to people! With our kids getting older and schedule changes, it has been a lot working our jobs and running the farm. When we received the violations in the mail we were still pretty upset and frustrated because although we did discuss stopping farm activities, we would have wanted to end on a good note and not like this. We discussed if we were up to potentially fighting with the city on the violations, but my husband and I agreed that because we were already thinking of stopping the farm at the end of the summer, we didn't want to bring on any other potential issues with trying to keep the farm going.

With that said, we were still upset that we could not stop farm activities, especially with the HUGE amount of support from the city, the way we had hoped. I can say that City Council has been nothing but supportive and amazing!!! They would absolutely have our back if we wanted to continue and even the code enforcement manager was also easy to work with. Bottom line was that while we loved bringing our unique farm to Livonia and will absolutely miss seeing everyone, we just were not wanting to pursue continuing to stay open with the city. The long story of it is that it would absolutely bring other potential issues if we wanted to continue.

I know that seems like bad news, BUT I do have some good news to share! The city and code enforcement asked us what the ideal situation with all of this would be and we asked if there was anyway we could continue farm activities through the end of the summer and they said YES! I have updated our website with the last farm visits and goat yoga at Blue Line Farms! Remember to please sign up on the website! And if coming for yoga especially please please please, try and carpool if possible!

Last Farm Visit Days:
visits are 45 mins- 10a, 11a, and 12p (if we fill up fast we will add in more time slots)
June 22nd
July 20th
August 17th

Last Goat Yoga Days:
June 23rd at 11a
July 10th at 6p
August 18th at 11a
August 23rd at 6pm

I will also make a separate post for the farm visits and goat yoga with more details for each. We want to thank everyone for their amazing support over these last 4 years! We have loved sharing our little urban farm and bringing happiness to so many! Hopefully everyone will be able to schedule a visit if they want to come say goodbye!

🚨Farm update coming soon!🚨

05/30/2024

🚨 FARM UPDATE 🚨We are saddened to say after 4 years…all farm visits and yoga will be cancelled until further notice. Please read below.

Here it goes….I am going to do a video in a day or so, but just can’t right now….

Our farm has been doing farm activities for 4 years. It was something needed during Covid with all the craziness in the world, small outside gatherings. From there it exploded into monthly farm visits, goat yoga, preschool/daycare field trips, local high school field trips, Girl Scout visits, so many smiles…laughter and joy in the community. People loved coming to the farm, getting up close with the animals. It seriously brough so much joy to so many, adults and kids. After 4 years a code enforcement officer for the city apparently has an issue with our farm. We think the day Stevenson high school came for yoga the code enforcement officer saw the cars and then went to town on us. We received in the mail yesterday 2 pages long code violation which started with “you can’t park cars on the grass” of our own home, to our sign up front to selling eggs to the tarp on the barn roof. Could we fight the city? Maybe. Have city council members come to the farm? Yep. Did they love it, yep. But since this is our home we don’t want to cause anymore potential issues or possible fines. We are heartbroken. If we closed down we would want to do it on our terms, not someone telling us we had to stop. We’ve been on the front page of the Livonia paper, in the Livonia today magazine….but all of a sudden there is an issue? Trying to wrap our heads around everything. We are frustrated and sad. I have lived in Livonia my whole life and I am truly saddened by all this. Not the way we wanted to go out. We want to thank each and everyone who has supported our farm, it has meant so much. We have one family in particular who has literally been at farm visits from the start and we’ve seen them grow their family over the years, which has been incredible.

The sad thing is the future of our animals. We do these farm activities to help cover the feed and care costs. Without the farm activities we can’t keep all the animals. So it stings even more. Because of everything, and not wanting to cause even more issues we have made the hard decision to stop all farm activities immediately. We wish we could have had at least a final farm visit and goat yoga, but don’t want to risk any other potential issues. We are sad and sorry.
