A lot of people think their dogs are aggressive and in reality, they are just asking for space. Gizmo is a very anxious dog that needs clarity to gain confidence for these situations. Training provides clarity. These two scenarios were only a few minutes apart. The first clip when he first met dogs while here and the second clip was also here just a few minutes later. Gizmo likes his space and he will do what he needs to, to protect that space. Whether it be his home or himself. He will let out a small growl when he is feeling overwhelmed and needs space. The first group of dogs were calm and respectful of his space. As you see each one backs up to give space at times. The main thing is they are calm and respectful. The second group of dogs were very hyper, didn’t have the curtesy to meet properly, blew him off and only wanted to do what they wanted to do. The dogs being hyped up is what creates chaos. Gizmo does not like chaos in the slightest bit so naturally he tries to “correct” the dogs to calm them down. This is where training will kick in! It is our job to teach our dogs what is acceptable and what is not. We have to advocate for each dog properly. If your dog growls or lunges at another dog try correcting the other dog or make it calm down. Once we show them we can have control, both dogs will calm down and become more environmentally neutral and sometimes become more social. Labradoodle for personal protection? It can be done. Any breed can do personal protection, they just have to have a personality for it. Not every dog is capable of it. Just like I am not comfortable with protecting someone as a job. But there are off breeds out there that can do the job. We breed our dogs for workability and being environmentally neutral. Wanting a dog that’s not on the aggressive dog breed list that can still protect you? HOA breed restricted? Live in an apartment complex that doesn’t allow certain breeds? Military living on base and can’t have an aggressive breed? Well you get where I’m going with this. Our labradoodles can do the work. Any work. This litter of puppies has turned out so good, we plan on doing a repeat litter. Make sure to reward and say yes. To many people are quick to say NO.

When using an E-collar properly you can build a dog to trust you, to be happier because they know you are paying attention to those things that make them uncomfortable. The E-collar isn’t being used as a correctional tool in this video. It’s at a very low level that feels like someone is lightly tapping them on the shoulder. When someone taps me on the shoulder I look to see what they want. Or if someone just puts their hand on my arm to calm me down or soothe me. They are telling me it’s ok, everything will be fine. It’s the exact same thing we teach a dog. When you are unsure, look at me for direction.
