Fun Saturday at Lofty Heart Stables show. We had some rain delays but everyone still had great rides and left feeling good! Only bringing 5 riders meant I could take some pics!

Barn Closed! Horses are all fed with lots of hay and warm water. Please don’t try to visit as we need to get the driveway plowed out and want to keep doors shut up tight so it stays warm.

Congrats to winners on Sunday at the Fuller and Company IEA show. Lauren Zwifka was high point middle school rider. One of our 2 middle school teams was reserve champion. And Sienna Geasling won the sportsmanship award! Congrats to everyone.

Hunters Ridge has a couple nice horses for sale this Fall.

1) 18yo OTTB 15.2H chestnut mare. Has been leased by a 12 yo rider for 4H and local show stuff. Done western, games, hunters, jumper and eventing. So could go in any direction.
2) 6yo Medium pony gelding. chestnut. Has been a pony ride pony previously so very quiet and just started his over fences training. Easy for kids to ride but best suited for an intermediate kid to bring him along. Has show miles.

Elvis has been teaching lessons for 15 years, and this year he celebrated his 30th birthday. He can be very quirky on the ground, sometimes hard to bridle and lead, but he is a gem under saddle! He loves giving longe line lessons so much that his teeth clank and his tongue hangs out because he gets so relaxed! Elvis is also very good at teaching riders to canter, and he loves to jump!

Join us Saturday 8/27 at 10:00am if your interested in joining our IEA Team. You do not have to be a current student at Hunters Ridge to be on the team! Classes in both middle school and High School for Walk Trot through Jumping. We are also offering the Adult IEA program for riders 21 and up who want to give IEA a try. We will be offering Adult IEA shows that are separate from the kids ones so the adults can compete without the kids and have fun!

“Parents, let your daughters grow up to be horse girls, because they will learn quickly and repeatedly that life isn’t fair, that hard work is often trumped by Lady Luck, and that every defeat, no matter how terrible, is temporary. Let them dream big and kick on. Let them learn confidence, grace and grit. Let them build big muscles and strong backs.

Let your daughters grow up in the barn. Let them learn that buckets need filling and stalls need cleaning, even when it’s raining, even when it’s frozen, even when they have a different idea for how the day should go.

Teach them to drive trucks and trailers and ATVs. Teach them to change tires and wrap legs and give shots. And let them leave a spur mark, or a bit rub, or a bandage bow, and let them deal with the shame of causing pain to an animal they love.

Let them grow up with horses and with good horse people, because it will teach them to be humble, and to be resilient, and to be brave.”
