Todd and Jody Schlund are sole proprietors and care for all the chickens, goats, sheep, cattle and hogs by hand every day - while providing the animals sun, shade, shelter and fresh air. Todd and Jody were raised on farms in South Dakota and lived in many different locations throughout over 20 years of Marine Corps active-duty service. Once retired they settled down in Locust Grove, Virginia and w

ith four children and two grandchildren, established The Schlund Family Farm. Todd and Jody sincerely hope that you enjoy their fine products and want you to know they are honored to serve you and the community. Schlund Family Farm is small - but they are good!!!

Needed to stop at the CO-OP in Culpeper yesterday for supplies - these two young women took great care of us. Savanah and Skyler work the warehouse and prepare and load pallets of all kinds of seeds and feeds - they run the forklifts and give advice and provide recommendations and put out good information. We provide super fresh ground pork to Jackleg Pizza in Warrenton, VA. Nathan and his Lovely Bride, Gina - put in an order with Schlund Family Farm this week for more product - which was supposed to be delivered this morning to Nathan at 0800. I have been so distracted with the flooding (we are in the middle of fall calving with our cattle) that I lost track of time and missed the meeting time. I called Nathan back and apologized profusely - and he and Gina are so kind and understanding - Nathan was on his way to his restaurant and turned-around and waited for me to meet-up with him. Nathan and Gina could have easily said "nevermind" and used someone else's product - but they didn't - and that's the kind of Great Americans that are running Jackleg Pizza. Small business is hard - even harder when it comes to farming - and you can't just snap your fingers and have a semi-truck show-up with product. We are very grateful that Gina and Nathan know this and are patient when dealing with a very small operation like ours. Small Business America - nothing better. Re-use and re-utilize - container on the left was an old safety containment box used to hold 55 gallon drums of petroleum products (unused and was headed to the dump) and the container on the right was empty, sitting around and I grabbed it from a farmer who had fertilizer in it at one point (cut the top off of it) - cleaned them up and wala......water tanks for the cattle!!!
