Wednesday Wisdom.. We have a lot of clients ask us how heartworms are transmitted. There is also a lot of confusion that if your dog is indoors most the time they can’t get heartworms. The truth is they are spread by mosquitoes and as we all know they can get in your house. This is why Dr Barker recommends staying on monthly heartworm prevention. The prevention also covers intestinal parasites.

Effective immediately, there will be a $100 deposit required at the time of scheduling a surgical or dental procedure. If you cancel within 72-business hour window of the appointment or do not show on the scheduled date, the deposit is forfeited.

This policy affects only those appointments for a surgery or dental. The clinic has resisted moving towards this type of policy for some time, but the issue has become too great to ignore any longer. Thank you for your understanding!

Bailey is one of our receptionist and nurses! She has worked in the veterinarian field for 3 years and has worked for Colonial a little over a year! Bailey is engaged to Hunter, they have 4 dogs, 1 cat, a mini donkey, chickens and turkeys! Bailey enjoys riding horses, gardening and caring for the animals on her mini farm! Trinity is the lead nurse/supervisor here at Colonial. She has worked at Colonial for many years, even though there was a short break! Trinity has been in the veterinarian field for 21 years. When she isn’t working she enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her boyfriend and kids, her passion is riding horses! Trinity has 2 sons; Dakota and Dalton, a daughter, Kinslee and she is lucky enough to claim several bonus children! Trinity has 2 horses, 1 cat and 3 dogs! Dr. Jeff Barker is the face of Colonial Animal Hospital! He is the owner and veterinarian, he has been a vet for 20 years! When he’s not working Dr Barker enjoys spending time with his girls; Kara, Amanda and Emily. He also enjoys being active, anything from working out, riding bicycles, hiking, rope courses and loves amusement parks! Izzy is his rescue dog and is very special to everyone here! He also has 4 cats!

Dr. Barker will be out of the clinic on vacation and due to unforeseen circumstances, we will not have a doctor available during this time. We will have limited staff available to refill medications if required and to try and answer any questions.
