Jen's point of view: Khamseen al Badia "Twister"
As a breeder we've been very successful as a seller, we've only sold three. Two went to fabulous forever homes & we are lucky enough to watch them both grow into amazing partnerships with their owners. Twist wasn't as lucky, he had everything going for him national titles and really just an amazing loving horse. He was sold to a family with lovely children & should have been set. Unfortunately it appears he was not really what they wanted, perhaps just a means to an end. Somehow each and every time Twist was going to be sold, I would start obsessively worrying about him. I have no idea how I knew something was wrong. The second little girl also decided that a warmblood was a better option and he found his way back to Illinois in a lesson program. We are forever grateful to Kate Fleming-Kuhn, when they decided that his height was limiting for their program she reached out. Somehow our 14.2 pony had been marketed as a 15.2 horse, so he wasn't quite what they were looking for. He has had exceptional care while he was with her program, we were lucky that when she reached out we were able to make it happen. While we were driving up I saw a horse in a rear paddock, just as I was thinking is that Twist but he was to far away to tell his head came up & my heart quickened. I now know that was Twist, I'm not sure if he sensed anything but I would like to think that he did. I still wasn't sure because of the distance until they drove down & started leading him back up. While he was being led in, he stopped moving the minute he saw me. I guess what I'm trying to say is buy the horse you want, try not to buy with the idea of trading up or moving on because they have hearts too. I'm sure that each time he lost his little girl, his heart broke a little bit. Luckily he is back where he belongs & I'll never sell another horse. Jen
