You're invited to join us at Moe's, 13 West Main Street, on December 14th, from 3pm-6pm, as we bid farewell to Dr. Daubenmier and welcome Dr. Hern. We look forward to seeing you there!

Dr. Valerie Daubenmier is announcing her retirement and sale of her practice. She regrets that she has to retire but has been involved with veterinary medicine for 45 years, first as a veterinary technician and then as a veterinarian for 39 years. For health reasons, its time to step down.
She is going to miss seeing her clients every day and helping their pets. Dr. Sandy Hern will begin practicing at Logan Animal Clinic soon and would like to introduce herself.

Dr. Sandy Hern
Hello! I am excited to announce I will be joining Logan Animal Clinic as the new owner and
Veterinarian -I understand the bittersweetness that Dr. Daunbenmire is retiring but rest assured
she has agreed to let me pester her as needed for her wealth of knowledge accumulated from
her long standing career.
I was raised and still reside in Corning, Ohio. My parents are Sammy and Lorita Hern, My
mother worked in Logan for Selkirk Metalbestos until its closing and then finished her work life
as an Optician with Walmart. My fathers work was a coal miner for Peabody and eventually
retired as a Corrections Officer with the State. I graduated from Miller High School and took
undergraduate classes at Muskingum, Capital University and Columbus State Community
College prior to entering veterinary school.
I graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. Prior to
attending veterinary school, I obtained an Associate of Applied Science degree in Veterinary
Technology and worked as a veterinary technician for 10 years. I have over 25 years work
experience in veterinary medicine and have had a love of animals for my entire life. Part of my
technician training occurred at Logan Animal Clinic where I first met Dr. Daubenmire. She has
been a wonderful mentor throughout the years.
I am a mother of 2 ornery human boys (Jax and Chet). We have a Labrador named Whinnie
who runs the roost. Gunner is a pit bull mix & champion snuggler, and a yorkshire terrier /terror
Patch whose bark is louder than his playbite. The family felines are BroTato Chip a.k.a. “The
Boss” and Fisher Kitty who is a sweet special needs kitten and one goldish (Goldie) whom I
expect to be eaten daily by the kitten but nonetheless survives .
I cherish time spent with my family and my partner Matt. I enjoy being outdoors and am usually
chasing the boys on their motorcycles while they are living the real life version of the song by
Luke Bryan, “Huntin’ Fishin’ and Lovin’ Everyday.”
My passion is in empowering pet owners by providing them information and tools necessary to
make the best health decisions regarding their beloved fur babies.
I enjoy routine surgery, dentistry and wellness visits. I especially love learning all the quirks of
my patients that are discovered with each visit as I build a relationship with them and their
owners.
My dream of ownership stems from wanting to practice good quality medicine at a reasonable
cost while protecting the well-being of my staff, myself and my patients . I value honesty,
straightforwardness and integrity. I respect your right to choose your veterinary healthcare
team and hope that you appreciate the value our team has to add to your pet's life. We look
forward to the transition of The Healthy Pet Vet at Logan Animal Clinic over the coming months
and hope to see you soon!
