Deb’s dog Mya is missing. She was last seen on 500 W near the Cass/Miami county line. Mya is a diabetic that needs insulin twice a day and is almost fully blind. If you have have seen her please contact us on here or call (574)753-3690. Thank you

We did not have anyone claim”Stetson” so he is now up for adoption. He is neutered and current on all of his vaccines. We think he may do better with room to run. He is extremely friendly but is becoming depressed being in a cage (he does like to climb fences). If you would like to meet him or are interested in adopting him please call (574)753-3690.

This article is so true. We are already feeling the shortage. It is a serious problem esp for farmers as few large animal vets are left in the U.S. and very little interest in the degree. The article is not telling the truth on the severity as it is much worse.

Forty-seven states are facing some sort of veterinarian shortage, and the high cost of vet school doesn’t help the case.

Day 8 update: Chris was making good progress until Thursday when he began experiencing side effects from the medication. Today, he is feeling worse and it was difficult to keep him on track with his therapy. He has been experiencing headaches, sweating, and low energy, which he believes are withdrawal symptoms from reducing his Hydro pain pills. According to my research, it's possible to have mild withdrawal symptoms even after just 7-10 days on the medication. Chris says the pain is worse behind his knee and he's having trouble straightening it. The swelling has gone down a bit and his incision looks good. He can't wait to get off all the medication - he started with 6 different types (including 4 pain relievers.) He stopped the Colace because it was really making his stomach upset. He is doing better now that he is off it. We use another medicine that is better. We are not happy that he still has 3 weeks left on Celebrex, especially since this medication has been banned in other countries and used to be banned in the US. We hope to talk to the doctor soon about stopping it. He believes this is also making him feel bad. especially since he is on aspirin as well. The two medicines are not to be taken together unless instructed too. We hope to talk to the doctor soon about stopping it. We both dislike relying on pain meds and I hope we can find a natural alternative instead. Pain meds are evil. He is still eating - thank goodness as I have a lot of food. We hope everyone enjoyed there time with their family. Thank you for being great clients and for being patient during this long recovery period. I know he would rather be working on your pets verses being under my care! I told him we could meditate and open his chakras tonight and he said, "oh yay" with an eye roll.

Chris did well with the surgery. It was a long day. Therapist was impressed as he had full range of movement and pain was minimal. I think he was thinking this is not so bad and I will be back to work in no time. (of course, he made a call to the clinic after surgery lol - I wonder if he remembers that).
Today, he woke up, with pain, stiffness, and quite bit of swelling. He is listening well to his nurse. I set an alarm every hour for walking exercises, we do 40 min therapy sessions every 4 hours. He even asks permission before doing something. He (at this time) is being the perfect patient. He was most excited about not waking up to an alarm clock or phone call! Thanks for the prayers and speedy recovery wishes. He has the best clients.

Effective Wednesday at 7:00 p.m., Dr. Ciotta will be unavailable for the next 6 to 8 weeks due to his scheduled knee replacement surgery on November 17th. As many clients tend to call his personal phone rather than the clinic, we kindly request that you be aware of his absence during this time. To ensure continued care, a relief vet will be assisting Dr. Grogg; however, we regret to inform you that after-hours services will not be available. We suggest having a backup plan in place for any emergency situations and urge large animal clients to stock up on necessary medications and establish a relationship with another veterinarian in the meantime. For routine appointments, please understand that there may be longer wait times than usual. Your understanding and patience are greatly appreciated as we work towards Dr. Ciotta's recovery goals of limited small animal work by the end of January and limited large animal work by the end of February. We understand that many of you turn to Dr. Ciotta for advice and he truly values your trust; however, in order for him to properly heal, it is important for him to follow his doctor's orders and refrain from responding to after-hours questions as well. We have seen A LOT of Parvo-virus cases in the past couple of weeks. Please remember to get your puppies vaccinated!!! Do NOT take them to any public places until they have had their complete series of DHPP.
We start vaccines at 6 weeks of age and repeat injections until they are 16 weeks old. They need at least 3-4 vaccines to be fully protected from the virus. We know you want to show off your cute new puppy to everyone, but Parvo can be very expensive and a deadly virus.
