From mutts to show dogs, I’ll bring out the best in the four-legged members of your family. 🐾 At Mesmeric Mutts I offer pet photography as well as pet grooming.
As the owner and sole photographer at Mesmeric Mutts, I am also a pet groomer of three years. I have much knowledge in photography and grooming with a few certifications, continued education, and much experience under my belt.

Did you know that pet grooming is a completely unregulated industry? There is no requirement for formal education, no required continuing education, and no required testing or certification?
Anyone and everyone can just pick up a pair of clippers and start advertising themselves as a groomer and charge people for a service they aren’t trained to perform.
It’s completely up to you, the owner, to do your research and make sure the person you are trusting with the health and safety of your pet is qualified to care for them.
Every groomer should be trained, and that very basic training takes months.
It takes years to truly master the ins and outs of grooming and everything that goes along with it.
Pet grooming is so much more than just a hair style.
*It’s knowing dog behavior and how to safely handle all the different personalities and quirks.
*It’s recognizing health conditions that would be better suited seeing a vet such as skin or ear infections.
*It’s being prepared for any and all emergencies that can happen, from seizures to allergic reactions, to nicks and cuts and quicked toenails without panicking.
*It’s knowing how to best deal with a variety of coat types properly.
*It’s being able to know when to stop a service on a particular dog due to behavior or health.
*It’s having the knowledge and patience to handle a different species while holding razor sharp clippers or 8 inch long scissors.
At the very least, the groomer you use should seek out continuing education to make sure they are current on the changes in the industry, from upgrades in products to tools that make the process easier for the pet and them.
They should be current on their pet cpr/first aid certification which needs repeated every couple of years.
They should be able to answer your grooming related questions with knowledge and confidence and if they don’t know the answer they should know where to find it.
They should have an emergency plan in place with a local veterinarian in case anything happens, because when working with animals it’s not a matter of if something happens, but when.
They should come recommended by other pet owners and pet professionals.
And it’s worth noting that there is nothing wrong with using a groomer that is still in training, but they should be working alongside an experienced groomer and under their direct supervision.
Ask the questions, after all you are paying them for a service. A groomer who has spent time and money to be as educated as possible is excited to share their knowledge!

Friendly reminder to the clients with doodles, poodles, or any poodle mixes:
It’s important to brush your dog. Even if they have little to no body hair, most have furry ears, tail, face and head, those areas need daily brushing like this as well. If you prefer a certain length of hair on any area of your dog, daily maintenance at home is key. Saving it for your groomer to attempt to brush out does much more harm than good, I as a groomer choose humanity over vanity and will shave the matted areas to avoid causing your pooch unnecessary pain. This video demonstrates everything I attempt to explain to my clients about brushing.

I am now offering dog sitting in my home! I have been testing the waters with well-behaved grooming clients of mine, and I am now ready offer my services to others!
Here are a few guidelines before inquiring about booking a stay with the Grigsby’s!
- This is case by case basis, as I do have dogs and cats of my own to consider.
- There are no children in my home at any given time. All who visit are adults 20yrs old and up.
- All of my personal pets are well behaved, UTD on shots, and very friendly.
- My personal dogs and dogs that stay with me are crated at night and when I am at work for their safety.
- Prices are $25/night per dog under 40lbs and $50/night per dog over 40lbs.
- Typically I will only sit one dog at a time unless they come from the same household.
When inquiring about booking a stay with me, please include the following information:
- Your dog’s name.
- Your dog’s age.
- Your dog’s weight.
- Include both the drop off and pickup dates. (Please note that I do not offer drop off or pickup on holidays).
- Any medications your dog needs.
- Any special routine your dog requires.
- Your knowledge of their behavior with other dogs and cats.
- Let me know if your dog is house trained, kennel trained, and leash trained.
- A photo of their rabies certification paper.
When dropping your dog off with me, please bring these items with your dog:
- Your dog’s food.
- Your dog’s crate.
- Your dog’s collar/harness and leash.
- Your dog’s medications (if any) and medication schedule.
- Emergency numbers and vet contact.
- Optional: a blanket or bed that they prefer with the smell of home on it.
- Feel free to bring any other items you’d prefer that your dog have with them during their stay with me.
