Jammin’ with RUSTY!
Tonight we finished up our package together and WOW has Rusty’s owner put in the WORK through our program together. We put Rusty on a long line and went for a walk and this boy has came such a long way in our time together. From a scared, insecure rescue dog to a confident obedient companion. Welcoming BRUNO to the band today! Bruno is a young lab whose owners reached out about his manners, excitement over people and dogs, and to get some help with his overall obedience! We had a good audition visit today where we started with some engagement games and leash pressure lessons, nothing like getting straight to work. Thanks for joining the crew Bruno!

JAMMIN’ with PHOEBE!
Tonight was her first jam session and Phoebe did phenomenal learning how to stay with her sits and downs. She’s one excitable dog who has struggled staying still in position until her owner started putting in the work tonight. Great start tonight team Phoebe!

Welcoming ATHENA to the Offbeat Crew tonight! Athena is a young pit mix who needs some guidance on confidence and obedience practice. Her owner reached out to get some help with her manners, and some confidence building activities for Athena to learn to feel better about herself without needing her doggie house mates approval. Sundays are for Corgis!
Today was our New Hampshire Corgi Lovers group meetup at Bensons Park! I was handling student Tate, who got to reunite with his litter mate Student Radar, and student biscuit joined in. Besides them there were around 30 corgis we walked the park with. It was such a nice day to get some of the crew together and go for a stroll in the park.

Today we caught up with Lady and took her out on the long line. Her owner learned how to handle with a long line to give Lady some extra space to explore and gain exposure while outside. It was nice catching up pretty Lady!

Smiles for Miles today!
We had our jam session and Miles did a great job with some heel work. His owners got the lowdown on how to handle the leash, and get Miles attention on a walk. Great job today team Miles!

TWO sleepy cattle dogs after our session this morning, that’s a win in my book!
Luna and Biscuit had a good session working on some heel work. Both handlers had some good lessons on leash handling, the purpose of inside vs outside turns, and how to keep a dog focused in a heel. Great job today to these sleepy pups!

Proud of Miss Piper today who faced her fears at the playground! Pipers going through an adolescent fear period currently which means it’s our job as her handler to guide her through things that seem scary but simply aren’t. She said HECK NO when we stumbled across a playground, but with me guiding her up onto the squeaky steps she gradually became more comfortable climbing up the play structure. Great job Piper!

How many places can you find for a “place” at your place? Frankie and I love using the rocks around his neighborhood for some good practice while on walks. It keeps him on his toes to be asked to stay in a spot while I walk around him.

HARLEY & REMY!
Today’s session was all about RECALL! We did some recall with the ecoll with Harley who is conditioning beautifully to the tool. With young Remy it was all about setting a foundation and making sure that coming back to a human is the most fun it can be! Great job tonight team REM and HARLEY! I’m proud of how much work their teenage owners have put in.

Jammin’ with Radar!
Today’s jam session was a refresher on leash pressure for Radar! His owner and I worked in their long driveway reviewing the importance of growing engagement, working on leash skills, and reinforcing good manners on leash before expecting walks to go smoothly. Radar is in prime adolescence which means he’s pushing his limits, and pulling his way through the streets. His owner did a fantastic job with our lesson today, reinforcing the good and fixing the not so good. Proud of you team Radar!

Hey everyone! I just wanted to take a moment to thank all the students who have been so patient with me this week while I recover from the flu. Offbeat Canine is run solely by me, Megan. I handle everything—from emails and social media to backend business tasks, constant texts, and updates. It’s truly a one-woman show over here!

I’m so grateful for the wonderful community we’ve built, and I deeply appreciate your understanding when I need to take last-minute time off. Most of the time, it’s for your benefit, so I don’t spread sickness back and forth to my students.

I’ll be back to work this week, though I still have a lingering cough and am working on rebuilding my stamina. I truly appreciate all of you and look forward to getting back to working with you and your dogs. If anyone would prefer to reschedule to avoid any risk, just send me a text ahead of your session, and we can postpone.
