BISCUIT!
Today’s session with Biscuit was a productive refresher since we had both humans home for the first time. We took the chance to ensure everyone was on the same page for his homework, and got both his handlers in tune with the training plan. We introduced swinging to a heel, worked our place, sit, and down cues, and went over how to condition nail trims to be a fun time for little Biscuit boy. Great job keeping up the good work Team Biscuit

SPENCER!
Todays session was all about adding in proper reinforcement to Spencer’s training plan. He’s nothing but a bouncy, excitable, enthusiastic young boxer who loves to throw his body around. We introduced the prong collar to Spencer today and his handler got a long lesson on how to use it safely during her homework drills and on walks with him. Her and Spencer are doing fantastic so far by putting in the practice while gaining some new skills together. Awesome job team Spencer!

❗️Important Announcement❗️
As we approach the end of a wonderful first year in business, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for all of your support and trust in me and my services. It’s been an amazing journey so far, and I’m so thankful to have worked with each canine and handler duo that has became part of the Offbeat Canine Crew.

I will be taking a short break to focus on helping my dog, Rude, recover from his back surgery. I truly appreciate your understanding during this time, and I’m excited to return to serving you starting January 6th 2025. In this time off I will still be monitoring my email and text messages for client support and inquiries.

Thank you again for your continued support, and I look forward to working with you and your pups in the New Year! Wishing you all a peaceful and joyful holiday season. 🐾❤️

Tonight’s jam session we took it to Abby road 🎶 We brought Abby out to work with her handlers skills with the leash, and work around the neighborhood who were all coming home around the time of our visit. Abby has some strong emotions towards seeing her friendly neighbors, but her owners did a fantastic job sticking to the plan tonight by staying calm and working on settling her excitement while seeing people. GREAT JOB TEAM ABBY!

BANANA BREAD AT WORK DUDE?!
This Christmas has been an adventure already. Reflecting on this first year with Offbeat has me emotional and filled with gratitude for every family I’ve had the pleasure of educating. You and your dogs efforts have kept us going, and helped our dreams become a reality. Thank you to all the students who have reached out and checked on Rude’s Road to Recovery after his recent injury, and those who have been extraordinarily patient during this time. Thank you to June the Aussie and her mom for leaving some tasty treats on my front porch this morning to ensure the holiday spirit is still flowing through our house. It most certainly has been thanks to all of you wonderful people I get to call the Offbeat Canine Crew.

BISCUIT!! Today we worked on introducing place before the holidays have the house filled with guests! We went over how to add some difficulty, distractions, and weirdness around the place cue to really get him waiting for the release. We had some time to then work on his big feelings when gates are up, teaching biscuit it’s okay to have barriers between him and his humans. Great job today team biscuit!

Rusty and Luna!
Our jam session was a blast last night! We took both dogs for a lovely evening walk, then had some fun practicing rally-style exercises in their owner’s driveway. We set up cones and worked on obstacles to mix up heel and loose-leash walking. Huge kudos to their owner for all the hard work she’s putting in and for getting her family involved in the fun!

Today we kicked off our training together with working on mechanics with his human. We worked on teaching stay to this bouncy boxer, introducing our release word to the positions sit and down. We also reviewed the use of tethering a high energy dog, working on settling, and setting boundaries when a pup won’t let the humans get alone time in the house. All such important things to review right before the holidays!

These two have done so fantastic these last six sessions thanks to their owners hard work and dedication to practicing their homework every week. We worked on some leash skills tonight with both dogs, and played some engage disengage with the delivery drivers stopping by a few times during our session. Great job team Remy and Harley!

‼️Keep walking past the cheap stocking ‼️

Each year in big box stores they make these fun looking colorful and inexpensive stockings for dogs. Rawhide treats make their way into homes for beloved canines, but they come with some serious risks. While they may seem harmless, rawhides can cause serious health problems. Dogs have been known to get pieces lodged in their windpipes, stomachs, or intestines, leading to choking hazards and dangerous blockages. They can also cause gastrointestinal issues like vomiting or diarrhea, especially if the rawhide irritates the digestive tract.

Rawhide is a byproduct of leather and can be difficult for dogs to digest. During production, rawhide is often soaked in harsh chemicals like formaldehyde, chromium salts, hydrogen peroxide, and bleach—all of which can pose serious risks to your dog’s health.

Instead, consider safer, more digestible options like Himalayan yak chews, dehydrated sweet potato chews, or other non-rawhide alternative like the brand No Hide. Some of our personal favorites are Nylabone and Benebone long lasting chews that are certainly better options. Keep your pups safe this holiday season.

Stuck some snackos in his snout and called it a good session 🎶

We went to Home Depot to work on some confidence building today. Frankie was such a good boy when we worked at the entry way, marking his engagement with me over all the loud carts, busy bodies, and weird dancing decorations they have out for the holidays. He even had a few strangers to help work on him greeting politely towards the end of our visit. Great job Frankie!

SUNDAY FUNDAY WITH FRANKIE!
Day 2 of B&T with Frankie! We headed up to the neighborhood plaza to work through some distractions. Started with a little “place frog” on the boulders by our property, then hit the vet parking lot for some solid sit and down stays. After that, we made our way to the Christmas tree stand—perfect spot to practice engagement with all the hustle and bustle. Loud noises, people everywhere, and even got to explore a few new surfaces like pallets and trailers (with permission!).

When interacting with a dog it’s important to consider the breeds needs. Dexter loves a good game of tug, however using “find it” to cool off after such an active game taps into his genetics by letting him sniff out some grass for a treat. My corgi likes to chase, my retriever likes to retrieve, and Dexter loves to sniff. When playing “find it” I toss one treat at a time and say “find it” to Dexter. When he finds the treat I mark it with a “yes” to say the games all done, then as for a “come” after the “yes” is said. Dexter enjoys this game very much as part of our routine together, he lays right down in his crate to nap after this routine.
