Please join me in welcoming our newest intake to HHLP 💙🐾💙
Bleu is a two year old Bluetic hound that was found in a ditch after being hit by a car. He suffers from fractures of the pelvis, sacrum, and lower spine. He is also Lyme positive.
Bleu is incontinent of bowel and bladder and unable to walk right now.
His current plan of care includes conservative treatment with strict cage rest (at least 8 weeks), pain control, protecting his skin integrity, and preserving muscle tone.
Bleu will be reevaluated by our vets to determine if surgical intervention might be an option.

This past Wednesday five lucky shelter babies were transported north to receiving rescues. Angel Ridge took FOUR female doggos and Hound Haven took a single male dog with fractures after being hit by a car.

On September 12th we lost a very good boy. 🌈 Archie was with us for a little over 2 yrs and became a BIG part of HHLP. Some of his favorite things were eating, sleeping, scootching, and going for rides to see moo cows. He was friendly with every dog, cat, or human he met. He was my little sidekick.
Archie came to rescue with severe skin and ear issues, congestive heart failure and hypothyroidism… Later Archie was diagnosed with chronic bronchitis.
Archie survived on a barrage of medications including Vetmedin, Theophylline, Hycodan, Flovent inhalers, Albuterol aerosols, Enalapril, Thyrotabs, antibiotics…and more. He always took his medications like a good boy and would then be able to go and give the day some hell!
But then it started to happen… Archie was getting short of breath with minimal activity and not interested in rides or the moo cows anymore. I thought I was prepared, but he went downhill so very fast. In a matter of days he was a shell of himself… and helping him find peace was the final gift of love I could provide.
I miss my little two bark stinker… He would often roll in p**p, p*e on my door, and run off with an entire loaf of bread. He was a very good boy💙

Juice would like everyone to know that we are back! On behalf of the rescue I had to take a little step back from FB and all of the sadness and drama in the world to get things right here with us 🐾🧡🐾

•The spring is starting to flow again so we will soon have good running water.
•I’m trying to do better keeping up with paperwork and learning some new computer skills.
•And I’ve come to terms with the fact HHLP operates more like a sanctuary than a rescue. Many of these broken dogs will never leave here and that’s okay!

I’m not sure what the future holds for my little rescue but after taking some hard lumps, I’m just not ready to throw in the towel.

Thank you to Mr Jim and Stallion Water for getting us all squared away this week. Such a sweet sound to hear that big water truck backing in!! Our wonderful delivery guy this time was Andy🤗… Although I think our furry water inspector was expecting Mr Jim, Puckles did take a special liking to Andy as well.
